How I beat the Twitch Algorithm
As most of you know I started streaming recently on twitch Follow me/watch here (indirect advertising). I started streaming about a week ago and since then my channel has exploded. Now you may say 140 followers isn't a ton, 16 average viewers per video isn't a lot. Well, compared to @hikaru and other big streamers who get 2-10k or other huge streamers who have 100-800 average viewer streamers, its not a lot. However compared to others who have been streaming for a week/have the same amount of followers... Its a ton. Like its crazy to think about how a week ago I didn't know if I would get 2 viewers and now I get 20+.
Now theres many different theory's on why this happened. However, lets get one out of the way. I am no popular, so therefore that has nothing to do with it... Ok moving on,
#1 Chess.com. I'm active in the forums, clubs, chess leagues so many people ive met over the past 10 months wanted to see me stream. Such as @Lightningchess21 (go follow him on twitch also) and some others that I forgot... Nothing personal I just straight up forgot... Anyways, that is #1 reason.
#2 Discord, discord, discord. I hate it. Not gonna lie, however I was able to use it as a springboard to help boost my twitch. As with cc I met several people and when I announced ened I was going to stream they wanted to join. Or at least check it out. I also ended up creating a discord server for my twitch which also helped. (dm or comment down below for link)
#3 I've heard i'm a nice person, not sure how that lie got spread around but apparently people say thats one reason so im putting it down. (for legal reasons the lying part is a joke...)
#4 Connections, I know a lot of people from a lot of different places which helps get my channel out there.
#5 Great friends, All of my friends have helped me out whether directly or indirectly. and to my friends that didn't- jk jk jk...
#6 I'm running out of ideas... so... A cool layout?
#7 Something new, I'm new, people like new things so they wanna check it out. Should be interesting to see who stays .
#8They wanted to hear a voice reveal (This honestly should have been #1 but im to lazy to swap them around now.
#9 The silly hope that I'd do a hot tub stream... Which is never going to happen.
#10 Face reveal at 500 followers, lets be honest this is why you all followed .
So in conclusion, I am thrilled by this entire twitch streaming thing, sure I tilted in all time controls and I play terrible on stream... But its fun and thats what chess is all about. Make sure to hit me up with a follow and I hope to see you on a stream .
