Power Rankings for TMC Chess League (Preseason)
TMC Power RankingsWhat is the league?:
The TMC Cash Chess League is a multi month league with some cash prizes consisting of a team draft, regular season, then playoffs.
Each round teams consisting of 5 players each will face each other and each player is required to play 2 3|1 games against their respective board. The power rankings below are an estimate of team and player ratings and overall compatibility however is not an entirely accurate representation of their overall skill and thus is not 100% accurate. (However its fun to try).
POWER RANKINGS:
RANK 1: QKD (Quantum Knight Dynamics)
#1: QKD (Quantum Knight Dynamics)
QKD is the team to beat. With an incredibly strong top 3, a solid bottom lineup, and unmatched activity levels, this squad stands at the pinnacle of the rankings. Their balance across the board, paired with a strong commitment to staying active, positions them as a top contender in the league, and their depth gives them an edge that few other teams can match.
gmhansdotcom: As the team’s board 1, gmhansdotcom is a top-tier player who brings the experience and sharpness needed to lead from the front. Expect them to consistently deliver solid performances against some of the best players in the league. Their strategic approach and ability to adapt make them a key asset in maintaining the team’s dominance.
Davsof: An FM with a wealth of experience, Davsof on board 2 is a force to be reckoned with. Their tactical brilliance and deep opening repertoire will cause problems for nearly every opponent they face. With Davsof anchoring the second board, QKD has a huge advantage in the middle of their lineup.
bltn12y: The NM on board 3, bltn12y brings consistency and reliability to the team. While many teams would be thrilled to have an NM on board 3, for QKD, this is just another piece of their well-oiled machine. Expect bltn12yto be a consistent point-scorer throughout the league, easily handling lower-rated opponents and challenging higher-rated players.
totallynotgmjoel: Despite being rated around 2000, totallynotgmjoel is a strong board 4 who can pull off major upsets. Their ability to grind out wins against opponents who might underestimate them makes them an unpredictable and dangerous player in the bottom half of the lineup.
TheLordsOfChaos: As the board 5, TheLordsOfChaos might not have the highest rating, but they more than make up for it with potential for surprise upsets. Every team facing QKD has to account for the possibility of a lower-rated player pulling off a shock victory, and TheLordsOfChaos has the skill to do just that.
What’s working for them?: QKD’s top 3 is as strong as it gets, with gmhansdotcom, Davsof, and bltn12y forming a powerhouse trio that will overwhelm most teams. But what really sets them apart is their depth—unlike many teams with a strong top 3 and weaker bottom boards, QKD is not lacking at all in the latter stages of their lineup. totallynotgmjoeland TheLordsOfChaos are more than capable of holding their own, and the team’s activity level gives them a competitive edge. They’re not only strong, but they’re also consistent, a combination that could make them nearly unbeatable in the long run.
Outlook: QKD is the team to watch for this season. With their combination of experience, depth, and activity, they’re poised to dominate the competition. If they continue to stay active and maintain their strong performances across all boards, they’ll be nearly impossible to stop. The rest of the league will have to bring their A-game to even compete with this powerhouse squad, and it’s hard to see anyone knocking QKD off the top spot unless they experience significant setbacks.
RANK 2: I Like KIDs (Kings Indian Defenses)
I Like KIDs (Kings Indian Defense) has the potential to dominate throughout the regular season, with a strong top 3 that can go toe-to-toe with the best. However, a lot of the team’s fate rests on board 2, vimun, who will need to perform up to their rating for this team to truly shine. While the team is heavily top-3 focused, the pressure on the top boards is immense, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against teams with a similarly strong B1 and B2. If TurkeySnipercan hold their own and outperform most board 1s, I Like KIDs could very well finish the season at the top of the standings. With a board 3like Subham777, who’s very strong for their rating, this team is certainly a major threat. That being said, Board 4 and Board 5 are no slouches either, with the ability to pull off upsets when needed.
TurkeySniper: As the board 1, TurkeySniper will be under immense pressure to lead the team to victory. With the potential to defeat top-tier players, he has the experience and skill to go far, but they’ll need to be at their best to keep the team in top form throughout the season. A win from him could be the difference in a tight match, so their performance will be critical.
vimun: The board 2 who might as well be wearing a sign that says "under pressure." There’s a lot riding on vimun this season, and it’s safe to say that if this team’s fate rests on vimun’s shoulders, we’ll need a backup plan. Sure, vimun can look good on paper, but when it’s time to perform at a high level, they might end up as more of a liability than a star. This isn’t just about meeting expectations; it’s about proving you can handle being more than just a name on the roster. If vimun wants to avoid becoming the weakest link, they’ll need to step up and actually play like they’re worth the hype.
Subham777: Board 3 is where this team shines, with Subham777 bringing a wealth of skill to the lineup. They’re extremely strong for a board 3 and can outplay opponents who might expect an easier match. Their consistency will be key to propelling I Like KIDs to success, and if they can continue to punch above their weight, this team could make a serious push for the title.
Door_Dude: At board 4, Door_Dude might not be the flashiest player, but they’re a solid contributor who can pull off upsets. They’ve been known to surprise opponents and could be the wildcard that pushes this team ahead when matches are tight. They won’t be easy to beat and can make a big difference in the final standings.
NoodlePy: The board 5 for I Like KIDs, NoodlePy rounds out a strong roster. While they might not have the highest rating, they’ve been known to pull off some impressive victories when the team needs it most. As a player who can cause major upsets, NoodlePy adds a layer of unpredictability to this already formidable team.
What’s working for them?: I Like KIDs has a very strong top 3, which will be the key to their success. If vimunperforms up to expectations and TurkeySniper continues to take down strong board 1s, they’ll have a great shot at staying near the top of the rankings. The board 4 and board 5 are also capable of surprising opponents, making this team a dangerous matchup for anyone. Their well-rounded nature is their strength, but the pressure on the top 3 can be their biggest challenge, especially in tight matches against similarly stacked teams.
Outlook: With the potential to claim the top spot, I Like KIDs is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous teams in the league. However, their fate will largely be decided by the performance of vimun and the consistency of the top 3. If they can maintain strong performances and TurkeySniper can continue to beat board 1s, this team has all the tools to be a top contender. But if they face teams with equal or stronger top boards, the pressure will be on, and they’ll need their B4 and B5 to step up when it counts.
Rank 3: First Rounders
Led by @BlunderPandaZz, First Rounders are NOT a team to take lightly. With one of the strongest board 1s in the league, this team’s main strategy will be to dominate the top board and secure just 2/4 of the remaining boards. This gives them flexibility and allows them to focus on capitalizing on their strengths. But a fun wrinkle in the lineup is their board 5: while they might only be rated around 1500 blitz, USERNAME25 is actually a 2100 bullet player. The real question is how that translates into 3+1 and if they can surprise some opponents with upsets. If USERNAME25 can deliver in the 3+1 format, First Rounders will definitely have a chance to make a serious run.
BlunderPandaZz: Board 1 is where BlunderPandaZz shines. With a reputation as one of the strongest board 1sin the league, they’re expected to hold down the fort and lead this team through tough matches. Their ability to control the game and set the tone will be critical in determining the team’s success.
tunglam: A reliable middle-board player, tunglam will be expected to step up in tight matches. While not the flashiest player, they have the consistency to deliver solid performances. If tunglam can overperform in critical moments, this team will be in a strong position.
Zenith00: Another solid contributor to the team, Zenith00 has the potential to be an under-the-radar powerhouse. If they can consistently win their matchups, First Rounders will have a well-rounded lineup that can challenge any team.
wertPublicAccount: And now, we get to wert, the captain of this team. wert is probably best known for their unique blend of strategic thinking and... well, the occasional moment of questionable decision-making. Sure, they’re technically the captain, but let’s face it, leading a team with the finesse of a drunk penguin on skates might not be the best recipe for success. It’s hard to take a captain seriously when they’re more likely to blame a bad game on "lag" or "the random number generator" than admit that maybe... just maybe... they made a mistake. But hey, if wert can pull it together and inspire the troops, maybe they’ll prove us all wrong. But until then, don’t be surprised if this team spends as much time roasting their own captain as they do preparing for matches.
USERNAME25: As mentioned, USERNAME25 has an unusual edge with their bullet rating. Can they transition that into 3+1? Time will tell. But if they can bring those clutch bullet skills to the table, First Rounders will be in great shape.
What’s working for them?: The strength of BlunderPandaZz at board 1 cannot be overstated, and with a strategy that focuses on securing just a few boards, this team can stay competitive even if they face teams with more evenly distributed talent. If USERNAME25 can convert their bullet skills to 3+1, First Rounders could catch a lot of teams off guard. Plus, with a solid middle lineup, they have the depth to stay consistent.
What might hold them back?: The main weakness here is wert. If wert doesn’t step up and actually lead the team with more than just "strategic" memes, they might hold the team back more than they realize. If the team doesn’t gel under their leadership or the lower boards struggle in clutch moments, First Rounders may find themselves crashing out of title contention.
Rank 4: D1 Throwers
D1 Throwers are a well-balanced and strong team across the board. The real standout this season is @ProjectNoaki on board 3. Although ProjectNoaki is rated around 2400 on Lichess, their Chess.com blitz rating sits at a solid 2700. If that transfer of skill between platforms holds up, board 3s everywhere better be on the lookout, as this could turn out to be a game-changer for D1 Throwers. The only reason this team isn’t ranked higher is the uncertainty surrounding how their board 1 and board 2 will perform against top-level competition with increment. Without solid performances at the top boards, this team’s full potential might not come to fruition.
Misterfox120: Board 1 will likely be the anchor of the team, but it’s still to be seen how Misterfox120 holds up against players with better control of their time and increment. If they can step up to the challenge, D1 Throwerswill be a tough team to beat.
BTRex2010: Board 2 has the potential to make an impact but needs to prove themselves in high-pressure games. The question is: can they handle the heat when matched up against players who have more experience with increment formats? If they do, D1 Throwers will be in a solid position to go deep in the rankings.
ProjectNaoki: Board 3 is where the magic happens. With a Lichess rating of 2400 and a Chess.com blitz rating of 2700, ProjectNaoki could be a weapon. If they perform up to their potential in 3+1, D1 Throwers could dominate the middle boards and steal crucial points from the competition. This player is definitely the one to watch this season!
PersonallyGabe: Board 4 won’t be a pushover either. With board 4s typically being weaker across other teams, PersonallyGabe's consistent performance will be vital for D1 Throwers' strategy. They won’t carry the weight of the team, but if they can hold their own, it will take pressure off the top 2 boards.
TheEpicMallow: Board 5 might be one of the more underrated positions. With ratings hovering around 1700-1800, TheEpicMallow won’t be a liability and could surprise opponents with upsets if they’re given the right opportunities. Solid bottom boards are key to building a successful team, and TheEpicMallow adds that consistency here.
What’s working for them?: A strong board 3 in ProjectNaoki gives D1 Throwers a legitimate chance at upsetting teams with stronger top boards. Their board 4 and board 5also hold their own, meaning there’s less pressure on the top boards to carry the team. This well-rounded structure should provide a solid foundation for success.
What might hold them back?: The big question for D1 Throwers is whether their board 1and board 2 can handle the intensity of increment-based formats. If they can’t, the team’s ceiling will be lower than expected. However, if they step up and match the performances of ProjectNaoki, they’ll be a top contender for sure.
Rank 5: Hagrid Tuah
Erm what the sigma? This team lead by a skibidi board 1 Feyezuid is a team to contend for the prize and not to be taken lightly. With board 2 and 3s immaculate rizzy play their opponents will have a tough time. The main problem with this team is the weak lower boards. Most of the key matches to watch out for will be on board 3 as those games will decide who wins and loses on this team.
MeneerMandje: Board 1 is the glue that holds together Hagrid Tuah's top trio. With rizzy play that keeps opponents on edge, MeneerMandje will be crucial in securing victories. His consistency is what will determine the success of this skibidi team.
Last2005: A troll at heart, Last2005 brings unpredictability to Hagrid Tuah's board 3. While this can sometimes lead to mistakes, it can also throw opponents off and create opportunities for unexpected victories.
U1CBC: At board 4, U1CBC will need to find consistency to help carry the team through tougher matchups. If he can perform above expectations, Hagrid Tuah could surprise in crucial moments.
VeggietheReggie: Board 5 will require a strong performance from VeggietheReggie, who may not be the most well-known, but could prove pivotal in securing upset victories. If they can hold their own, Hagrid Tuah's chances increase significantly.
ObunPlaysChess: Known for being highly active in the Discord and playing a ton of matches, ObunPlaysChesscould bring a level of momentum to the team. His ability to turn that activity into solid performances will be important for Hagrid Tuah's success.
What’s working for them?: The top boards of MeneerMandje, and Last2005 give Hagrid Tuah a strong foundation. If they can rely on their consistency and unpredictability in key matchups, they’ll be tough to beat. ObunPlaysChess's constant activity could be an X-factor on the lower boards, while U1CBC and VeggietheReggie have potential to surprise.
What might hold them back?: The team’s reliance on a strong top-heavy strategy could come with risks. If their board 4 and board 5 falter in crucial moments, it could put too much pressure on the top three to carry the load. Consistency at the lower boards will be key for Hagrid Tuah to continue climbing the ranks.
Rank 6: Vanguard Legion
Vanguard Legion should be a strong contender this year, but there’s a catch. While they have a decent team overall, the main concern is whether their board 1, board 2, and board 3 can compete with the top-tier teams in those key positions. Their top three, while solid, aren't quite at the level needed to dominate consistently against other powerhouse teams. The reason they’re not ranked higher is this gap in the top boards, but the team has some very strong assets down below that could make up for it if everything clicks.
One player who could truly make a difference for this team is @yetanotherflower, a standout on board 4. While she may be known for her WCM title, yetanotherflower has a ton of potential and could easily be one of the strongest board 4s in the league. If she performs up to expectations, she could be the X-factor that helps Vanguard Legion punch above their weight. Though let’s be real—being a WCM isn’t exactly going to strike fear into opponents, especially when you’re facing off against higher-rated players. But hey, if she can prove herself, she might just surprise us all!
WEPKINS: Board 1 isn’t exactly the team’s strongest asset. He’s solid, but he’s not the kind of player that will consistently knock out top boards from other teams. This could hold the team back if he can’t up his game when facing stronger opposition.
Prathuuuu: Board 2 has the potential to make an impact, but he’ll need to step up big time if Vanguard Legion is going to compete with top teams. He’s capable, but the competition is fierce.
The_Puzzles: Solid all-around, but not a game-changer by any means. Board 3 will need to punch above its weight for Vanguard Legion to have a shot at consistent victories, but there’s only so much The_Puzzles can do.
yetanotherflower: As the board 4, yetanotherflower has the potential to be one of the stronger players in this role. However, we can’t help but chuckle a bit at the WCMtitle. It’s cute, but when you’re going up against the best, being a WCM doesn’t quite have the same flair as a full-fledged IM or GM. That said, her strength is undeniable—if she’s on top of her game, she could very well be the team's anchor.
RohilPrakash: Board 5 isn’t exactly the standout of this team, but if he can surprise, he could make a meaningful contribution. There’s room for growth here, but it’s going to take some effort.
What’s working for them?: @yetanotherflower is the real jewel of this team, especially as board 4. If she can bring her best, she’ll be crucial to the team’s success. The rest of the team is fairly solid overall and can hold their own, but it’s really going to be a question of whether their top three boards can compete at the highest level.
What might hold them back?: The biggest issue for Vanguard Legion is their board 1-3. While these players are good, they may not be good enough to beat top-tier teams in those spots. If their board 4 doesn’t perform to the level expected, the team could struggle against stronger competition.
Rank 7: AgentDidntWaggle
Focus. Speed. I am speed. If only they could apply that same mindset to their blitz ratings... but hey, who needs blitz skills when you’ve got one of the most formidable top 3 boards in the league?
This team may have an interesting mix of strengths and weaknesses, but the biggest factor here is undoubtedly their top 3 boards. Board 1 at 2800+, board 2 at 2600+, and board 3at 2400 make this one of the most stacked top trios in the competition. They’ll definitely be a force to reckon with and should be able to take on most other teams' top players, assuming their nerves don’t get the better of them. However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—when you dive deeper into their lower boards, you start to see some cracks.
@MightActuallyTry, once a peak performer, is now what some might call "washed." The glory days are behind him, and now he’ll need to prove that he still has the chops to compete at the highest level. @GambitsTacticsOpen isn’t in much better shape, also finding himself on the washed-up side of things. If they don’t get back to form soon, this team could find itself struggling in the mid-board range.
Now, let’s talk about @Milocation. This guy’s ultra-speed on bullet is pretty insane—2100 ultra-2k+ bullet skills are no joke. The problem? He’s also 1400 in blitz, which could hurt this team’s overall consistency when the games get a little slower and more strategic. He’s fast, but if the clock slows down, will he be able to keep up? He’s the wild card here, and it’ll be interesting to see how he contributes.
What’s working for them?: The top 3 boards are incredibly strong. This team will almost always have an edge in those spots. Expect @EverySecondMatters to be one of the stronger board 3 players in the league, and @GambitsTacticsOpen will need to reclaim some of his past glory. If their top 3 can carry the team, they’ll be in great shape.
What might hold them back?: While the top 3 boards are rock-solid, the question will be how the lower boards perform. @MightActuallyTry and @GambitsTacticsOpen could both fall short of expectations, which might make for some tough matches. And let’s not forget @Milocation’s wild contrast between blitz and bullet—will his speed actually translate to overall success, or will his lack of blitz prowess be their downfall?
Rank 8: Southern Saints
High expectations. high results? This team could easily be top 5 or bottom 5 all depending on how their players perform to expectations. @AnasKhwira has the potential to draw and beat high level GMs otb we will see if it translates to this league. The flexible aspect about this team is that every board should have winning chances so it will be up to the entire team to win their games as compared to other teams were it all relies on one singular board while the rest should be easily decided.
Rank 9: The Infinite Orangutan theorem
@Penguingim1 leads this team as the strongest B1 in the league however with his high rating it left the rest of the team scrambling to fit the rest into the rating cap average of 2200 per person. Most matches for this team will be decided on boards 2-4 and as long as 2/3 of them can pull out wins this team will win the league. That is... if Tang lives up to expectation.
Rank 10: Bruzeland
Bruzeland lands at the 10th spot in this week's power rankings, showcasing a mix of talent and potential. Here's how their roster shapes up:
WillZeitnot (3100 bullet): The star of the team, WillZeitnot is a bullet specialist who thrives in the fastest format of the game. His lightning-fast reflexes and sharp tactics make him a dangerous board 1, though his blitz play remains a question mark.
deterring (NM): Young, strong, and full of promise, deterring brings the solid fundamentals and could be a key player in Bruzeland’s rise if he keeps building on his early success.
Shmoolik (2000): The veteran of the squad, Shmoolik might not be at his peak anymore, but his experience can still prove valuable. He’ll need to hold steady on his board to avoid becoming a liability.
VeryTiredChess: A bit of a wildcard, VeryTiredChess is a mystery to us. Whether they rise to the occasion or fade into the background will be an intriguing subplot this season.
Shawn37: Bruzeland’s sleeper pick. Shawn37 has the potential to be one of the league’s best board 5s, giving the team a strong edge in matchups deeper in the roster.
Outlook: Bruzeland has the tools to upset some higher-ranked teams if WillZeitnot and deterring deliver at the top boards and Shawn37 becomes a consistent performer. However, the team’s middle boards need to step up to solidify their place in the top 10.
Rank 11: The Mighty Skibidis
The Mighty Skibidis claim the #11 spot in the power rankings, and their roster lives up to the name with a mix of rising stars and steady hands. Here’s the breakdown:
GraysonRorrer: The team’s powerhouse, GraysonRorrer is a young phenom who has recently gained multiple GM norms. His rapid rise in the chess world positions him as one of the most exciting players to watch this season.
Valentin_Unhold: The team’s mystery factor. There’s not much info to go on, but they could turn out to be a hidden gem—or a weak link. Time will tell.
CoachMarkus: A potential team leader with the experience to back it up. Markus might not bring the flashiest results, but his steady presence could help anchor the lineup.
Isnail1: Another enigmatic figure on the roster. If they can find consistency, they might provide the depth Skibidis need to take on stronger teams.
HuffleJuice: With a name like HuffleJuice, they add a splash of unpredictability to the team. They’re either the secret sauce for an upset or a player who’ll need to overperform to keep up.
Outlook: The Mighty Skibidis have a solid foundation with GraysonRorrer leading the charge. If Valentin_Unhold and Isnail1 prove to be reliable, this team could move higher in the rankings. Consistency on the lower boards will be key to turning potential into results.
Rank 12: British Empire Redemption Alliance
The British Empire Redemption Alliance (BERA) storms into the #12 spot, relying on firepower at the top and a blend of leadership and experience. Let’s dive into their roster:
Strongbulletplayer1: The undisputed star of the team, this player lives up to their name with blistering blitz skills. Fresh off a win at the TMC Winter Blitz event, they’ll be a force to reckon with on the top board.
Tactrics64: A rock-solid contributor, Tactrics64’s strength makes the team’s top boards formidable. Opponents will need to be sharp to get past them.
Ninjaswat: Once a top player, Ninjaswat now battles with the shadow of their past brilliance. While no longer in their prime, they can still deliver if the right matchup comes along.
Bade: As the team leader, Bade carries the responsibility of motivating the group, but their play on board 4 could be a vulnerability. They'll need to find consistency to avoid dragging the team down.
Imtwohigh: The team’s weakest link. Imtwohigh will need to punch above their weight to avoid becoming a liability in tight matches.
Outlook: BERA’s success hinges on its top boards carrying the team while the lower boards minimize damage. Strongbulletplayer1 and Tactrics64 give them a shot at upsetting higher-ranked teams, but vulnerabilities in the lineup could hold them back from a top-tier finish.
Rank 13: Knightmare Syndicate
Knightmare Syndicate takes the #13 spot, bringing a balanced roster with strong flexibility. Their ability to mix and match their top three boards adds an intriguing strategic edge. Here’s the breakdown:
unknown-chessplayer (2400 blitz): A solid and steady presence at the top. While they may lack the flash of higher-rated players, their consistency could make them a reliable performer.
GhostDragonLTD (2600 bullet, 2400 blitz): This player’s raw talent is undeniable. If GhostDragonLTD can translate their bullet prowess to blitz and capitalize on favorable matchups, they could be a difference-maker.
RouteDeCroissant (FM): Despite their title, RouteDeCroissant has yet to showcase their best online. If they can adjust to the fast-paced blitz format, they’ll add significant depth to the team.
tarmonopee: A strong board 4 who punches above their weight. Their performance in the middle of the lineup could tip the scales in close matches.
Tanvi_014: The wildcard of the roster. While their role isn’t fully clear yet, they could provide support on the lower boards when needed.
What makes them interesting: Knightmare Syndicate’s ability to rotate their top three boards strategically keeps opponents guessing. This tactical flexibility could be a game-changer, especially in key matchups.
Outlook: With a blend of talent and adaptability, Knightmare Syndicate has the potential to rise higher in the rankings. However, their success will depend on GhostDragonLTD’s consistency and RouteDeCroissant stepping up in the blitz arena.
Rank 14: Professional Pawn Grubbers
The Professional Pawn Grubbers claw their way to the #14 spot, bringing a mix of unpredictability, experience, and resourcefulness. Known for their voice chat antics and unconventional methods, they might just outsmart the competition.
Rookie1243: A low-rated board 1 by conventional standards, but don’t sleep on him. With a history of peak performances in Moon Club tournaments, Rookie1243 has upset potential that can swing critical matches.
dorit0snbacon: A grinder with countless 3+2 games under their belt, as evidenced in the Discord. Their relentless practice and familiarity with faster formats make them a solid contributor.
hecrepsy: An enigmatic figure on the roster, their role and potential impact remain unclear. If they step up, they could be a secret weapon for the team.
TheeandThine (captain): The steady hand guiding the Grubbers. As captain, TheeandThine’s leadership and strategic insight will be key to keeping this unpredictable squad on track.
ppapam: Another wildcard, ppapam brings experience and could play a crucial role in deeper matchups where cunning often trumps raw rating.
What makes them unique: This team thrives on their collective experience in navigating unconventional scenarios. Their voice chat synergy and tactical ingenuity give them an edge in games that go off-script.
Outlook: The Grubbers might lack raw star power, but they compensate with resourcefulness and a knack for exploiting systems. If Rookie1243 can deliver board 1 magic and their lower boards hold strong, they’re a threat to any team in the league.
Rank 15: Curry Munchers
I smell drama with this one... The Curry Munchers come in at #15, blending talent and depth with a side of team drama. Despite the controversy surrounding their name (which, for the record, was chosen by an Indian team member), this squad has the potential to make waves in the league.
SarthakGattani: A solid board 1 with the consistency to hold the fort against tough competition. Their leadership on the top board sets the tone for the team.
Lblitz78: Once a peak 2600 blitz player on Chess.com, Lblitz78 is a powerhouse. If they can rediscover their peak form, they’ll be a massive asset for the Munchers.
Mrbeastkid: A diamond in the rough. This underrated board 3 could be a game-changer, flying under the radar and delivering clutch performances when it matters most.
ItsVenomous: A strong board 4 who can reliably deliver points in the middle of the lineup. Their stability provides the team with much-needed balance.
Subniif: Easily one of the best board 5s in the league. Subniif’s strength deep in the roster could give the Munchers a decisive edge in close matches.
What’s holding them back: The team drama surrounding the name might reflect larger communication challenges that could surface during high-pressure games. Whether they can keep the drama off the board remains to be seen.
Outlook: With depth across all boards and standout performances from Lblitz78 and Subniif, the Curry Munchers are well-equipped to fight for the top spots. If the team can keep their focus and resolve internal tensions, they could be serious contenders.
Rank 16: I Need Honey Pie Gang
Sliding into the #16 spot, I Need Honey Pie Gang is as chaotic as their name suggests, a nod to the enigmatic “honey pie girl” who inspired it. With a mix of raw talent, unpredictability, and offbeat energy, this team keeps everyone guessing.
LiamCleryChess: A bullet specialist with untapped potential in blitz. While Liam has struggled to prove himself at the highest blitz levels, his speed and tactics could shine in the right matchups.
JuliusCaesarofChess: The team’s resident troll. Whether he’s sowing chaos for opponents or keeping things lighthearted for his teammates, his impact might be more psychological than practical.
Halichobivittatus: The wild card of the roster. When focused (and sober), Halichobivittatus is a force to be reckoned with on board 3. The question is whether he can keep it together long enough to consistently deliver.
Tadpol3Milk: A steady presence, Tadpol3Milk adds stability to a roster that can lean heavily on unpredictability. Their ability to hold their own in crucial moments will be key.
ShadowKnight27: The enigma of the lineup. With limited information, ShadowKnight27 could be a hidden gem—or another element of the team’s unpredictable identity.
What’s their secret weapon?: The gang’s erratic energy, combined with the lore of honey pie girl, fuels their unorthodox approach to the game. Opponents won’t know whether to laugh, cry, or take them very seriously.
Rank 17: BALLS
BALLS lands at #17, and let’s just say they’re not quite living up to the hype their name suggests. Confidence is high, but the results? Not so much. This team has a lot of flair but not enough substance to back it up.
Andrei_Kharitonov: The only one keeping BALLS from plummeting to the bottom. Andrei’s solid enough to stay competitive, but “holding his own” is about the best we can say. The real question is whether he can carry a whole team when the lower boards are barely holding it together.
Tremil_2: Tremil’s job is to be “dependable,” but that’s like saying a cardboard box is “reliable.” Steady, yes, but don’t expect any fireworks from this one. If Tremil’s the second-best player on your team, you're in trouble.
Chesswarriors12: A name that promises battle, but the reality is more “chess warrior on a lunch break.” Solid, maybe, but not much more than a filler in the middle of the lineup.
rapturousrhinoceros: This one’s a real wild card—and not in a good way. More like a rhino that’s had a bit too much to drink. Expect a lot of unpredictability, most of it in the form of blunders. If this team was a circus, rapturousrhinoceros would be the one knocking over the tents.
Unease: If the lower boards could bring any more unease, the team might just have to start therapy. At the bottom of the lineup, Unease is exactly what you don’t want to see—someone who’s just there to fill a spot and hope for a miracle.
What’s holding them back?: The team’s name might be bold, but their play doesn’t match the swagger. Andrei might be able to steal a point here or there, but unless the rest of the team figures out how to play chess instead of just showing up, they’ll be stuck in the middle of the rankings.
Outlook: BALLS has heart, but that’s about it. Unless they can find some consistency or, heaven forbid, start thinking before making moves, they’re likely to stay right where they are—flashing their names, but not their results.
Rank 18: Blunder Masters: Kings of Chaos
The Blunder Masters: Kings of Chaos take their place at #189, and chaos is definitely the right word. If the title’s anything to go by, these guys are more about the blunder than the mastery.
JS8002: JS8002 might be their so-called “star,” but it’s hard to tell when they’re busy launching pieces off the board like they’re participating in a circus act. Don’t get too excited—JS8002’s best quality might be making the other team feel too comfortable.
cesart22: The “strategist” of the bunch. Only problem is, their idea of strategy seems to be “hope for the best” and “try not to blunder too much.” They might manage a couple of solid moves, but it’s usually right before they throw the game away with something bizarre.
Kingnchess: The name sounds promising, but don’t be fooled. Kingnchess might be closer to "pawnin’ it" than actually ruling the board. Their moves are more like an abstract painting—confusing, and rarely effective.
Poodypas: A little more reliable, but let’s face it—Poodypas is like the kid who hands in their homework late and hopes for a pass. Expect some moments of brilliance, followed by massive oversights that leave their teammates wishing for a redo.
Doratora: If the other four players are the clowns, Doratora is the one juggling fire. Unfortunately, the fire’s a bit too hot, and they often end up burning everything down. They can be a threat... but more often than not, they’re just a threat to their own team.
What’s holding them back?: If this team was a chessboard, they’d be missing a few pieces and probably have a pawn in the king’s spot. Blunders, chaos, and occasional brilliance don’t quite add up to anything resembling success—unless you count winning against themselves.
Outlook: The Blunder Masters have mastered chaos, but it’s hard to win with an army of pawns who think they’re knights. If they somehow stop tripping over their own pieces, they might be able to climb a bit higher, but they’ll need a miracle—or just less blundering—if they want to finish anywhere near the top.
Rank 19: Hungry Goats
The Hungry Goats find themselves at #15, and frankly, they might be hungrier for wins than they are for actual chess. Led by Jack, this team is a mix of rust, underperformance, and the kind of desperation that only comes from too long without a proper game.
Jack2212: As the team leader, Jack has the responsibility to lead the herd. But let’s be real: Jack’s “leadership” is more about reminding everyone what a chessboard looks like. He might be hungry, but it’s mostly for attention. Can’t win without a little more than a “lead by example” approach.
Jacksparrow-7777: Another Jack? Does this team even have a true identity, or are they just here to confuse their opponents with too many Jacks? Sparrows don’t exactly strike fear, and Jacksparrow-7777 plays like he’s been stuck in the brig for too long. Not much danger here unless your opponent forgets how to play.
Ulloo: The “Ulloo” part of the team’s puzzle remains unclear. Haven’t played in a while? Yeah, no kidding. Ulloo might need more than a warm-up to remember how to handle those rooks. Right now, they're a distant memory of someone who could’ve been good, but hasn't really proven much lately.
Bkd_OamB: When you haven’t played for a while, coming back and being a “reliable” board 4 sounds like an optimistic joke. Bkd_OamB’s still out there chasing what could’ve been—if only they’d show up for the games. Inconsistent at best, non-existent at worst.
D_maximus: The “maximus” of the team might be less about greatness and more about waiting for the coffee to kick in. A couple of moves, and D_maximus will either deliver a stunning victory or crash and burn. The latter is more likely, though.
What’s holding them back?: The team’s biggest problem? Rust. The Hungry Goats have spent way too much time in the barn, and it’s showing. They’re out of sync, out of practice, and have a tendency to get distracted by anything that isn’t chess.
Outlook: Unless Jack can somehow herd this team into some semblance of focus, the Goats are destined to wander through the middle of the pack. They might surprise everyone with an occasional win, but don’t expect them to take down any giants without a serious overhaul.
Rank 20:
Bishops Battalion comes in at #20, a team with a name that sounds way more intimidating than their actual play. They’ve got a few notable players, but let’s just say the batallion might need some reinforcements.
Time_IsRunning: Time is indeed running out for this player to live up to the hype. While capable of making some moves here and there, they often fall victim to the clock and their own blunders. “Time” might be running out, but the question is: can Time_IsRunning make it to the finish line without losing the game?
Malyy: The washed IM. Once upon a time, Malyy might’ve been feared, but now they’re just a shadow of their former self, sitting on their title as if it’s a participation trophy. Their days of intimidating blitz opponents are behind them, and they’re just trying to hold it together on board 2.
balenshah: Someone forgot to tell balenshah that a bishop is supposed to be useful. More often than not, they’re stumbling around, looking like they’re trying to figure out where their pieces are supposed to go. Reliable? Maybe. But don’t expect much more than a decent average performance.
sanjprabs: A master of organizing high school chess leagues, and that’s about it. When it comes to actually competing at a high level, sanjprabs better stick to what they know—creating leagues for the next generation of players, not taking down experienced blitz players.
Parthhavle: The new captain who might have something to prove. But right now, Parthhavle’s leadership is more “trial and error” than “strategic genius.” Will this be the year they get their act together? Time will tell, but right now, it’s looking like more of the same for the Bishops Battalion.
What’s holding them back?: Sure, they’ve got an IM and some experience, but there’s a real lack of firepower here. The pieces just don’t fit together, and even the higher-rated players are underperforming. At this point, the “Battalion” is looking more like a disorganized group of amateurs trying to figure out the game as they go.
Outlook: It’s hard to see the Bishops Battalion making much of a run at the top when they’re struggling to find any consistency. Unless Malyy remembers how to play or Parthhavle pulls off some miracle leadership, they’re stuck in the mid-tier—and even that’s being generous.
Rank 21:The Desserts
The Desserts are here, and frankly, they're about as sweet as stale pastries. The team’s name might be a nod to something indulgent, but their gameplay? Not so much. If they don’t start finding some real talent, they’ll be getting served up as the bottom-tier team in no time.
Lemmingsplayer: Lemmingsplayer is old, and we’re not just talking about experience here. They’re that player who’s been around for a while, but at this point, they’re only good for nostalgia and occasional “back in my day” rants. Age might not be the only thing slowing them down, but it’s definitely a factor.
NoGuidance: The name says it all. With no real direction or game plan, NoGuidance is the type of player who wanders through games, hoping something works. Spoiler alert: it usually doesn’t. The lack of strategy is almost impressive—if you’re into watching trainwrecks.
i313: Is i313 even playing in the league, or are they just a placeholder? This player’s presence is about as useful as a knight in a pawn race. If they’re not even showing up, there’s no point in pretending they’re a real threat. Someone needs to get them out of the lineup for the sake of team morale.
Flanere: Ah yes, just another Chesscom Discord member turned “player.” Flanere’s contributions are about as impressive as their “bozo” status suggests—posting memes and hoping no one notices they can’t make a move without blundering. A real threat to your entertainment, but not much else.
AmanChakma: Aman has the potential to be decent, but this team’s already in such a disorganized mess that it’s hard to know if even they can save it. Still, if they’re in the mood for some wins, they could pull something together—though that’s asking a lot with this bunch.
What’s holding them back?: The Desserts are more like a collection of half-baked ideas and unfulfilled potential. With an aging player, a ghost on the roster, and some real weak links in the middle, this team is far from a top contender. They’d be lucky to make it past the first few rounds without getting completely crushed.
Outlook: Unless invis can somehow make their players disappear and bring in fresh talent, The Desserts are looking at a season full of underperformance, missed opportunities, and probably a lot of regrets. But hey, at least they’re sweet... to look at.
Rank 22: Hammered Magical Narcs
At #12: a team with a name that’s more fun than their gameplay. The magical part of their name must refer to the illusions they’re trying to create—like the one where they actually perform like a top-tier squad. Spoiler: it’s not working.
Gambitssharpsother11: A young kid who’s probably trying hard to prove themselves but ends up making mistakes that are way beyond their age. The other11 might be an indicator that this kid’s got some experience, but that doesn’t stop them from being more gambit than sharp. Still, give them time—they might grow into something decent, but right now it’s just cute to watch.
GalcticMasterC: “Galctic” sounds promising, right? Too bad “Master” isn’t in their vocabulary yet. At 2400, they’re decent enough to hold their own against most mid-tier players, but don’t expect any mind-blowing performances. Hardtack, indeed. They’ve got some good moves, but also plenty of meh moments.
NBin: No one really knows what they’re about—one game they’re a genius, the next they’re a disaster. If there’s a mystery in the lineup, NBin’s it. But don’t hold your breath for consistency.
deanbassey001: Dean’s name sounds like they should be handling business, but in reality, they’re more likely to handle a couple of blunders. Not quite a weak link, but definitely a noticeable one. Don’t expect them to make many waves unless their teammates are carrying the team hard.
honchkrowabcd: Honchkrow is looking to be the team’s wildcard, but let’s just say their “wild” is more like “unpredictable” in the worst way possible. They can bring the heat... or burn the house down. Either way, don’t expect stability.
What’s holding them back?: The magical aspect is there, but it’s mostly smoke and mirrors. Gambitssharpsother11 has potential, but the rest of the team is a blend of inconsistencies, weak spots, and unproven players. No one’s stepping up to take the lead, and with these kinds of performances, a #12 ranking is generous.
Outlook: If the team can pull themselves together and stop relying on hope, they could climb. But right now, it’s looking like a season full of missteps, questionable decisions, and a lot of “next time, for sure” moments. Not much magic here unless they seriously level up fast.
Rank 23:
Blue Devils come in at #11, and while they might have some name recognition, it’s hard to see them making a major splash with this roster. With a mix of questionable talents, this team might look intimidating on paper—but a deeper look shows a group of underachievers who are more known for their side hobbies than their blitz skills.
SilverKnight101: The national blitz champ—sounds impressive, right? Well, if being the best at blitz means consistently beating people who aren’t even paying attention, then sure. SilverKnight101 can hold their own, but they’re really just a name at this point. Can they live up to the title when the competition gets tough? Not convinced.
Roger436: The good at blogs guy. Well, Roger436’s talent with words might get them a solid following, but it won’t win games. A strong online presence doesn’t make up for lackluster performances on the board. Sure, they might write some excellent content, but they’ll need more than words to rise through the rankings.
Obamium31: “Good at poker”... but what are you doing at a chess league, Obamium31? Bluffing your way to a victory? They might have a decent poker face, but chess isn’t about trying to trick your opponent—it’s about playing the game. Until Obamium31 starts putting down the cards and picking up the pieces with more focus, they’re just a distraction.
GodoftheUnderworld: The name is cool. The gameplay? Less so. GodoftheUnderworld might be trying to summon something divine on the board, but all they’re summoning right now is confusion and bad moves. No one’s afraid of an underworld god who can’t even get their pieces into place.
Heisen_berg: A name that screams mystery, but there’s nothing mysterious about their lackluster performances. Heisen_berg seems to have a bit of a complex—like they’re trying to appear smarter than they actually are. At best, they’ll confuse themselves into a few decent moves; at worst, they’ll lose to players who actually know what they’re doing.
What’s holding them back?: A team full of side-hustlers. The Blue Devils might have a few talented players here and there, but they’re distracted by everything but chess. The name recognition doesn’t translate into consistency, and it’ll take a lot more than a “national champ” or good at poker to move up the ranks.
Outlook: The Blue Devils have enough individual talent to stay middle of the pack, but don’t expect any breakthroughs unless they put their side hobbies aside and focus on what matters—winning chess games. The competition is tough, and it’ll take more than flashy titles to stand out in the upper echelon.
Rank 24: Team 24
Team 24 lands near the bottom of the rankings. If there’s one thing this team proves, it’s that a lack of imagination in choosing a name can only be outdone by their lack of coherence as a team. With a combination of good players, maybe good players, and some obvious weak links, Team 27 is the definition of meh.
ManuDavid2910: A super strong player, no doubt. ManuDavid2910 could be the saving grace of this team, but let’s not kid ourselves—they’re still stuck trying to carry an entire team of weak links. While their potential is sky-high, their inactivity is a massive red flag. If Manu doesn’t play consistently enough, they’re just another strong player who can’t show up when needed. It’s hard to carry a team that can’t even make it to the board regularly.
CosmicVision: Sure, they’re strong online—but we’ve all seen how quickly online prowess crumbles when the board is in front of you in person. CosmicVision’s strength on Chess.com might look impressive, but that doesn’t mean anything when they’re practically useless over-the-board. Their inactivity is crippling this team—being out of the game for too long could leave them rusty and struggling when the matches count.
PanoSot2104: "Something about Greece," but what exactly? PanoSot2104 might have a heritage worth mentioning, but it’s not doing anything for their gameplay. Whatever it is about Greece, it’s not translating to any winning strategies here. And to top it off, PanoSot2104 is barely active, which means we’re left with no hope of them showing up when the team needs them.
vihaanthegr8: If this player barely even got onto the team, that’s probably an indication of their actual skill level. Gr8? Not so much. The name says it all: a player who didn’t really earn their spot but somehow ended up on the roster anyway. With zero commitment and zero games, this player is more of a non-factor than an actual contributor.
moscatel10: The most forgettable name on the roster. If you didn’t notice them, don’t worry—you didn’t miss anything. They’re a player who’ll get lost in the shuffle, much like the team itself. Inactivity has made moscatel10 a ghost on the roster, and unless they suddenly show up with some real effort, they’ll continue to fade into the background.
What’s holding them back?: A lack of name, focus, and talent coordination. Sure, they have a couple of strong players, but they’re surrounded by weak or unproven contributors. CosmicVision might be “super strong” online, but their game doesn't translate. PanoSot2104’s Greek background isn’t winning them any games, and vihaanthegr8’s only claim to fame is barely making it onto the team. Inactivity is killing this team—especially the top boards who seem to prefer showing up only when they feel like it. Without more commitment, they’ll stay stagnant at best.
Outlook: With a team name that screams “we couldn’t come up with anything better,” and a roster full of inconsistencies and chronic inactivity, Team 27 is poised to stay at the bottom of the rankings. ManuDavid2910 might pull off a few upsets, but this team is more about underperforming and being barely memorable than actually competing for anything. The lack of consistency in participation is a huge issue, and unless they get their act together and start showing up more often, they’ll continue to be an afterthought in the league.
Rank 25: Rizzlers
The Rizzlers are a team that shows promise on paper with a roster that’s pretty evenly matched, but at the same time, they don’t exactly strike fear into their opponents. With players ranging from 2100-2300, they’re all capable of making some noise—but none of them are really game-changers on their own. If anything, their balance might be their biggest issue: they’re not quite strong enough to make a serious push, but they’re also not weak enough to be underestimated.
Duplicate_1: Having played in many TMC events, Duplicate_1 is the most experienced player on the team. But experience only counts for so much if you can’t bring your best to the table consistently. They’ll need to show up in clutch moments if this team has any hope of making a real push.
bmtheassassin: New to the server and still trying to find their footing, bmtheassassin has a lot to prove. The potential is there, but the inexperience is a glaring weakness. With enough time, they could improve, but for now, they’re the one wildcard who might either rise to the occasion or fall flat under pressure.
iplaybulletintrain: The name says it all—this player might play a lot, but how well they actually play is still up in the air. Between the 2100-2300 rating range, they fall right in the middle, which is fine, but not enough to stand out from the pack.
faze_mao: Another solid mid-tier player who’s capable of pulling off a win when needed but is unlikely to turn the tide of any match single-handedly. Faze_mao's consistent but not necessarily a game-winner.
li-julian: Like the rest of the team, li-julian falls into that same category—competent but not extraordinary. With nothing that stands out about their playstyle, li-julian is another cog in the machine. The team's best bet is to keep things balanced, but that doesn’t necessarily spell victory in the long run.
What’s holding them back?: The main issue for Rizzlers is the lack of a standout player. All the talent is evenly spread out between the 2100-2300 range, which means they have a solid, reliable team—but also one that lacks the explosive potential to take down higher-ranked squads. Their balance is both a blessing and a curse, as it gives them consistency but doesn’t offer the dynamic edge some of the higher-ranked teams have.
Outlook: As a team that’s so evenly matched, Rizzlers are unlikely to make a deep run, but they’re certainly capable of causing some upsets. Their best chance lies in playing as a team rather than relying on individual brilliance, and with some coordination and luck, they could exceed expectations. However, without someone stepping up to be the leader or difference-maker, they’ll likely find themselves bouncing around the middle of the rankings.
Rank 26: g5
The g5 team has the potential to be much stronger than their current ranking suggests, but circumstances have held them back. Their main setback comes from the unfortunate loss of key players on board 2 and 3, which has greatly affected their overall performance. If captain Maybach7 can find solid replacements, this team has the ingredients to push for a top 5 finish.
Maybach7: As the captain and a bughouse main, Maybach7 brings a wealth of experience to the table. While their specialty in bughouse might not directly translate to blitz, their strategic mindset and leadership will be key in guiding the team to success. If they can pull the right pieces together for the team, Maybach7 could be the driving force behind a strong comeback.
Vatel123: A solid player who brings stability to the lineup, Vatel123 has the potential to be a reliable contributor. While not a standout on their own, their consistency will be a valuable asset as the team rebuilds after the departures of their board 2 and 3 players.
Brayden523: Underrated as a board 5, Brayden523 was a standout pick for Maybach in the draft. Their placement at board 5 gives them the opportunity to shine without the pressure of facing top-tier competition, and Brayden523 could be one of the surprises of the league if they continue to perform consistently.
What’s holding them back?: The loss of key players on board 2 and 3 is a major setback for g5. Without replacements in those critical spots, the team is severely weakened. However, if Maybach7 can secure suitable replacements and put in the effort to strengthen the roster, they could quickly become a top contender.
Outlook: With the right changes, g5 could rise dramatically in the rankings. The pieces are there, with a strong captain in Maybach7 and a solid board 5 in Brayden523, but the team is currently held back by a lack of depth. If Maybach7 can find the right players and rally the team, g5 has the potential to break into the top 5, but that will depend on their ability to recover from their current roster situation.
Rank 27: The Underdogs
True to their name, The Underdogs are a team full of solid 2200-rated players, but they lack the flair to push into the top ranks. While they’ve got decent ratings across the board, nothing stands out enough to give them an edge over their competition. This team is capable of grinding out solid performances, but they’ll need more than just consistency if they want to rise higher in the rankings.
What’s holding them back?: All the players in The Underdogs are in the same 2200-rated range, which gives them some consistency but no standout talent to push them into higher contention. They’re solid, but they lack the extra firepower needed to upset stronger teams. Without someone stepping up to take the lead, it’ll be tough for this team to make any serious moves up the rankings.
Outlook: The Underdogs will likely stay in the middle of the pack, earning a few wins and causing occasional upsets, but they’ll struggle to break into the top tier. Their balanced lineup of 2200-rated players is a double-edged sword—they’ll stay competitive, but without anyone truly standing out, they won’t have the edge to break past their current ranking.
