Learning How to Checkmate in 1 Move
Spotting checkmate in ones in chess is extremely important. A position where you have checkmate in one move, can turn into a disaster in just a simple move.
Since I am rather inexperienced in playing faster time controls, I have been playing a lot of 3+2 and 3+0's to gain some experience in making decisions under time pressure. (I have a ton of blitz games but they were 10-minute games before Chess.com switched 10-min to rapid time control).
One day, during one of my blitz games on the stream, my spidey senses started tingling, because I did spot that I had mate somewhere on the board. When a queen move delivered immediate mate, I put my queen somewhere else on the same file under time pressure and forgetfulness. My lovely lady was taken away from me and everything just collapsed in a blink of an eye as I got distracted by my own blunder.
After this incident, as if I was able to forget this horrendous incident, I got challenged by my chat. Apparently, I always miss mate in ones in actual games.
