Crushing With The a3 Sicilian

Crushing With The a3 Sicilian

I haven't found anything interesting for you guys these days. There weren't any big upsets in top league tournaments. Like always, Carlsen is crushing, and everyone else is dying. There were no upsets in smalled league tournaments either. Then, I got a GREAT idea. What about MY games? I'd want to think that I'm a pretty okay guy when it comes to chess, or when I'm not blundering my queen or flagging in a winning position. We don't talk about that.

ANYWAYS, I've been studying and playing a few Sicilian sidelines against 1...c5 such as a3, b3, and c3. However, I've discovered a handy trap derived from the a3 variation, a deferred Wing Gambit. Here is a lovely miniature I played against someone online in blitz. I hope you enjoy it and learn something!

With the a3 Sicilian, I prepared b4 and sacrificed a pawn on b4. Then, I used the weak c7 square and strong a file to create an attack that would ultimately result in severe material loss or checkmate.
