Top Bloggers' Chess Ratings

By doing the statistics of chess nations recently, I somehow became overwhelmed by the "science of collecting, analyzing, presenting, and interpreting facts and figures." Everyone of us is just a set of numbers that the government and other interested parties have access to. Humanity lies in the interpretation of those numbers.

So an idea came to me to do the top bloggers chess stats. Thus they also become just a set of numbers the chesscom members and visitors can have access in one place now.

Some say statistics conceals as much as it reveals. As Aaron Levenstein put it, "It is like bikini. What it reveals is suggestive, but what it conceals is vital."

There are three types of lies ― lies, damn lies, and statistics.― Benjamin Disraeli

Statistics is the main of all inaccurate studies and should never be a substitute for common sense and good judgement. Many a statistic is false on its face. Yet, It gets by only because the magic of numbers brings about a suspension of common sense.

Below you can find the stats of the authors of blogs written in English that have been active in the last 30 days. The results are sorted by the daily, then Fischerandom, and finally blitz numbers.

If the statistics are boring, then you've got the wrong numbers.”―Edward Tufte

Here we go,

Table 1. Top Bloggers ranked by Daily Chesscom Rating

.

Table 2. Top Bloggers by Daily Chess960 Rating

.

Table 3. Top Bloggers ranked by Blitz Rating

.

Instruction for Use: You use these stats like a drunk man uses a lamppost ― more for support than illumination.

There's also the Blogger Rating column in the tables above. It is something intangible though.

For now. By providing the names of three of your favorite top bloggers (or at least one), we could possibly get that statistic, too!

.

You all have a happy and healthy New Year!
