How I crossed 1800
Hey everybody, yesterday I played in an OTB tournament in arlington. I thought there were some interesting games in there, so lets jump in!
Notes from this game:
c5 would have been more accurate as it immediately attacks the pawn
This guy was unrated before this game.
Ok so A win in my first round is obviously solid, but second round I was paired against Thomas Capps (1927) USCF, and he is an opponent that I have played 7 times in USCF play and I have got a score of 0.5/7, so definitely a tough opponent.
Notes from this game:
I don't think that Nb5 was accurate as it makes it a 2 pieces for a rook position
If he had see n the mate and taken the pawn, I would have been struggling for a draw.
I was honestly taken aback on how I won that game, but I would need to muster some miracle if i wanted to beat Austen Green (2225) USCF.
I wasn't too upset about that game, losing to a 2200 (and the current Texas state champion) is nothing to be ashamed of, but round 4, I was paired against Daniel Guel (1817) USCF who is a top blogger on chess.com and a very tough opponent.
I was exhausted after that game. It was probably the closest fight I've had in a while. I finished the tournament with 3/4, tying for 2nd place! My rating went from 1755 -> 1831, not too shabby! I finally hit 1800. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I will be seeing you guys next time, bye!
