Behind the Avatar - sailsword
Hello! Welcome back to Behind the Avatar (credit to @Witch31415 for the name)! I'm your host, @TheAuthorOfChickens. In this series, we get to know more about some of the people on social!
Today we're interviewing @sailsword (referred to as "Sword" in this interview).
Me: Hello, how are you doing today?
Sword: I’m doing good(:
Me: That's good! Alright, to start us off, what is your name?
Sword: sailsword
Me: Ah yes, silly me. Hello, sailsword. I'm going to call you "Sword" because it's easier. Anyways, what are some of your hobbies?
Sword: Chess, playing Minecraft, geometry dash and reading
Me: Nice. I also like to read! Moving on, why did you choose the username you did?
Sword: I couldn’t think of one so I used a random word generator so I got this
Sword: Also fact I first used this username in scratch
Me: Welp, now you're well known (at least as far as I can tell) so I guess that generator worked out well for you! Now that we know why you chose your username, what is the history of your username? Has it been changed? Has it been the same this whole time?
Sword: The first time I used it was on scratch which was sail_sword and then I joined chess.com removing the _ in the username and I’ve been using this version of my username for all my new accounts of different platforms
Me: Imagine if there's someone out there on a platform you don't use and they have the username "sailsword" and then they become famous because everyone thinks it's you lol. Let's move on to profile pictures. Are you the type of person who changes their pfp a lot or do you like to stick with the same one? Also, why did you choose your current pfp?
Sword: I usually use the same pfp for a while when I try find a new I usually switch profile pictures constantly and if someone uses my username on a different platform I don’t know about and if I find out about it I guess I tell everyone here that isn’t me
Me: I've definitely seen you going on pfp changing streaks. You seem to have calmed down now that you have the dancing parrot. Now for...surprise! Another question! Do you own any clubs? If so, please link them and tell me a bit about them.
Sword: I used to own 2 clubs I give one away which is water’ (https://www.chess.com/club/water-2) and I still own Parrots of the Otherside (https://www.chess.com/club/parrots-of-the-otherside) which are both dead I just own 3 private clubs and 2 random clubs I made for no reason
Me: Oh I didn't know you gave Water away until now. Why did you give it to someone else, if you don't mind sharing?
Sword: I just find it hard owning a big club and I don’t really have much time so I’m getting less active on chess.com
Me: Perfectly valid reason to give away a club. And while I'd be sad if you left, I'm glad you're able to be offline more. We know that you've been owner of some clubs, but are you a coordinator/admin/super admin in any clubs? If so, what are they?
Sword: I’m admin in animal appreciation club coordinator in deflect to victory and some roles in some clubs I never check on
Me: Nice! Wait...DTV...Oh no it's taking over the interviews- *coughs* Moving on. What was the first big club you joined, and how did you find it?
Sword: The first big club I joined was the chess.com community and I found it on my recommended clubs
Me: I've been in there a few times and it was...interesting. I hope you're not experiencing too much craziness in there. Alright, let's start to wrap this up. What would you say is your greatest achievement on Chess.com?
Sword: I don’t really know what’s my greatest achievement on chess.com
Me: That's unfortunate. I'm sure you've done something on the site that's noteworthy (had to retype that last word a couple times, I can't spell today lol). Are there any blogs/clubs/people you would like to shoutout, and if so what/who are they?
