The Update: Chapter 2
This is a work of fiction and is not meant to accurately represent any people or events it references. This blog is not meant to claim Chess.com cannot be trusted [insert better explanation] (you get what I'm trying to say, right?). I promise this is just a cool idea for a story
Also @GM_CroissantDealer, I'm not going after you either-

SlytherinRules1942: So my best guess is that someone is trying to warn us of a DDoS attack, probably on the site. The immediate questions are why do they have to warn us and why do they have to do it in code?
I_Like_Top_Gun: OR, they just messed up with the bolding and didn't notice.
Magnus: And it just so happens to spell out "DDoS" using Bacon's Code?
Also, I knew something was up with this update!
Desolate: It's not like it's spelling out "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". That would be really hard to accidentally bold.
Magnus: Still
CagedHostilePigeon: I just got on and what on earth is this
YourAverageObanaiFan: Slytherin, I have a better question. Who is going to DDoS the site?
SlytherinRules1942: And when?
Magnus: Why?
Desolate: Where?
Agentneck: What?
ShootCactusGambit: How?
Pfpsarelame: Um...
Assuming this is true, that is actually a good method to use. I've just back-read the forum.
So, starting with what we know: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How
Magnus: "What" is obviously a DDoS attack. "Where" is most likely Chess.com. Who the heck warns people of a DDoS attack on a separate site from the one they're warning people on?
CagedHostilePigeon: Or ChessKid, possibly both
HappyCoffee02: "Who" could be Lichess
HappyCoffee02: Or GM_CroissantDealer
CagedHostilePigeon: Why would Croissant be behind this?
HappyCoffee02: Views
MrCroissant: I take offense
HappyCoffee02: Consider everything. For all you guys know, I'm the one behind this.
IAmGordanRamsayFr: Okay hold up what is a ddos attack
Desolate: #GoogleIt
IAmGordanRamsayFr: -_-
Pfpsarelame: Something to note:
The person who gave us the code is either a CC employee, a troll, a hacker, or one of the attackers
I_Like_Top_Gun: Guys what do we do if this is a false alarm?
Magnus: Celebrate my guesses being wrong
Magnus: Should we let loose or keep this in here to the best of our abilities?
Pfpsarelame: Um
We don't want to cause mass panic over something that could end up being nothing
Desolate: Alright, no one post anything about this outside of here, you understand? *makes direct eye contact with the people who like to blog about all the drama*
Agentneck: *coughs* What if the bad guys are in here?
Magnus: Ah shoot
SlytherinRule1942: We could make a club and only let trusted people in
Agentneck: What about people turning traitor or spies who've been building up trust until this very DDoS attack?
SlytherinRules1942: This isn't a crime show-
Agentneck: Exactly, this real life, which means people are smart. There ain't no people failing a spot check here.
SlytherinRules1942: I'm making the club, join if you wish
Agentneck: Someone DM me when you figure out I'm right
Magnus: How do we know you're not the traitor asking about traitors to throw suspicion off yourself?
Agentneck: You don't. That's my point.

In the notes of NYE 2025
SlytherinRules1942: We can work on the name, but this is the best I could think of.
Noahthecat: What if it's the OTFers doing this?
Pfpsarelame: OTF is on CC so IDK why they would attack CC just to get at the Clubies
A_Parrot_Named_Taco: Clubies?
Pfpsarelame: Do you have any better suggestions?
A_Parrot_Named_Taco: Yeah, "Clubbers"
Pfpsarelame: That makes it sound like we hit people with clubs
A_Parrot_Named_Taco: But it actually means who regularly goes to clubs to dance.
CagedHostilePigeon: What about "Clubheads"?
Pfpsarelame: That's just...no
CagedHostilPigeon: I meant for the OTFers to use.
A_Parrot_Named_Taco: O_O
Magnus: We're getting off topic -_-
*Pfpsarelame posts a forum titled "Safety"*
In the forum titled "Safety", posted in NYE 2025
Pfpsarelame: Okay, we don't know how deep this lake is. It could be a puddle, with us freaking over nothing, or it could be a full-on revenge against CC type of situation. So, some safety tips.
- If anything seems off, think "What would Agentneck do?"
That's literally all I have but more details would be helpful lol
SlytherinRules1942: So you're saying that I shouldn't accept the join request from I-Am-Totally-The-Real-Pfpsarelame?
Pfpsarelame: Correct lol
In a collaborative document
Firework 1: Things are going good on our side. Does someone know when anyone from Ball Drop will be on? We have some things we need to discuss with them.
Midnight 4: Ball Drop 3 usually comes online around this time. Give it about 5 minutes or so.
Firework 1: Any luck with figuring out who posted that code?
Midnight 4: Nope. And of course some guy in Chess.org vs. ChessChild figured it out. Where are all our Champagne guys?
Firework 1: I think one of them said half the team's being sent to Chess.org vs. ChessChild.
Midnight 4: We need to coordinate with them so no one gets suspicious. Why is no one online when you need them?
*Champagne 6 comes on*
Champagne 6: Oh, looks like perfect timing. What do you need?
Midnight 4: Are you guys going to try and sway Chess.org vs. ChessChild to the coincidence side or is that on us?
Champagne 6: I'm not a part of that area. C1-5 is doing CVC ops while the rest of us wait for assignment. We can't have too many guys in there without raising suspicion.
Midnight 4: But it's still being worked on by you guys?
Champagne 6: Yes
Midnight 4: That's all I needed to know.
In the notes of NYE 2025
Magnus: So what do we even do first?
SlytherinRules1942: You're the Super Admin, figure it out.
Magnus: You're the owner.
SlytherinRules1942: Yeah, in THIS club.
Pfpsarelame: NOW who's getting off topic?
Desolate: EVERYBODY SHUT UP
*people stop posting notes*
Desolate: In the event that a DDoS is actually going to happen, we're going to be of no concern to them if we're arguing about what to call people who join clubs and who's technically the leader. So unless the two CVC SAs and the owner of this club are going to pull it together, I am making myself the leader.
*SlytherinRules1942 gives owner to Desolate*
SlytherinRules1942: You'd do better than I can.
Desolate: Thank you.
Desolate: We should start investigating. Look for reasons this is real and proof this is fake. Try to figure out who's behind this and when they're doing it. Once we have that info, we start trying to stop them.
Placeholder: Why can't we just tell staff?
Desolate: What if there's a mole in staff?
Agentneck: There could be a mole HERE so it doesn't really matter.
Desolate: Well, there's another reason that I can't state here. Or maybe...No.
Magnus: Are there any hackers in here besides me and Agent?
Kaleb341: We need StubbyToe.
In Midnight team's collaborative document
Midnight 1: 3, didn't you defeat some dude named "Dangerous_Kevin" last year?
Midnight 3: Yes, in fact he was my brother.
Midnight 1: And you know everyone in Chess.org vs. ChessChild pretty well, correct?
Midnight 3: Yes. I was an admin in there at one point.
Midnight 1: Go and keep an eye on them. Try to get into their discussion club.
Midnight 3: Isn't Champagne working on that?
Midnight 1: They're working on trying to steer the attention away from the message. Ask 4 or check the general chat.
Midnight 1: We're working on figuring out who knows and is trying to warn people through the announcement. Which means you need to go spy on them. I assume you've already changed your username and profile picture?
Midnight 3: Yes.
Midnight 1: Change or remove anything else identifying and start to build up trust. I suggest changing your join date as a start.
Midnight 3: Got it.
