My Chess Journey
Hello everyone! This is the first time that I've posted a blog, so let me introduce myself. My name is Tanawat Phinit, my nickname is Win, I'm 13 (Now 15) years old, and I come from Thailand. This blog is about how I got interested in chess. What I like about chess and my entire journey with chess from a beginner to an advanced player.
Hope you enjoy the story!
THE STORY AND MY JOURNEY
The story begins in 2019. I was 8 years old at the time. I basically do whatever a typical 8-year-old would do: go to school, eat, sleep, and so on. I don't even know that chess exists; I was just a random kid with nothing special. Then one day in January 2019, I was just watching TV in the living room with my parents, and then we'd found a Thai show, and THAT show featured a scene where two players were playing Makruk (a.k.a. Thai Chess) (หมากรุกไทย).
This is what Makruk looks like:

At that moment, I immediately got interested in the game. and I start learning it via my mom's phone (since I don't have a phone yet). And also, I beg my mom to buy me a Thai chess set.
This is what it looks like now:

After that, I started to bring chess to school and play it with the friends in my class. My friends never knew about chess until they saw me bring it to school. Me and my friends had a lot of fun. And then I was wondering: Is there any type of chess in this world? I mean, in Thailand, we have makruk; there's got to be another type of chess, right? And then I started to hear about international chess. At first, I wasn't going to play it, but then I started to get interested because of this video. Yep, that video is the reason why I started to learn about international chess, and like the previously: I beg my mom to buy Chess pieces, board and the chess clock.
This is what my chess board looks like:

I continued to learn and play chess with my freinds. But then, when I was about 11 years old, my parents moved me to a new school. And I basically need to stop playing chess because I need to study so hard that I don't have to play chess. It has been like that until I graduated and moved to Matayom 1 (grade 7), I started to come back to chess again because, well, it just came to mind. And I really wanted to get better at chess. So I started to learn chess again after being away from it for like 2 years. And I learn a lot of chess tactics and strategies, slowly but surely improving at chess.
MY CHESS ONLINE ERA:
One day in Easter month of 2023, I was just searching for chess on Google and found my first online chess website, which is CHESS.COM! At first, I clicked on the website and just played as a guest, but then I decided to make an account, and I really enjoy playing chess online ever since.
And to finished of this blog, I'll going to put some of my social links and fun facts about chess down here. So If you find me interesting, you can follow me! ![]()
