Why this opening trap is not good for black.
Hello, and welcome back! About two weeks ago I posted a blog about how I disrespected my opponent, and that blog got more than 70 views! My most viewed blog yet. So first of all, thank you to everyone that viewed my blog, I really appreciate that.
Anyways, today's blog is about one particular opening trap in the Englund gambit, where black can checkmate white in 8 moves if white is not careful.
1. What's is the Englund gambit?
-The Englund Gambit is an opening for Black against White's 1.d4. Although similar in appearance to the Budapest Gambit, the Englund is not a sound opening and, therefore, not popular among stronger players. However, the Englund Gambit does contain traps that can catch many players off guard and result in quick wins.
2. The Move sequences that leads to the trap
This opening trap is very effective for beginners and some intermediate chess players if they are not careful. But if the player that plays with the white pieces knows what they're doing, Black would be completely losing.
3. How white can punish black
So according to the lichess database black has about 60 to 80% winrate after the move sequence that I show on the board previously. But after black plays Qxb2, instead of playing Bc3, white can play the only winning move Nc3
4. Alternative moves / variations and lines that black can play.
5. Conclusion:
Every chess opening is not always great; there is no best chess opening because it depends on your skill and level, like this opening, for example. Personally, I've never played this before, but I found this opening trap interesting and found out that this opening is not always a good choice for black. That's why I share this with everyone.
Thank you
