From 1400 to 1500 : Doubled pawns and positional chess

Lots of beginner chess players like to give their opponents doubled pawns. They play it quickly as if they are thinking that they have a won position already.

It is true that doubled pawns by default have several drawbacks (loss of control of certain squares, and sometimes doubled pawns go with isolated pawns, or having more "pawn islands".

However, there are exceptions where doubled pawns also can be very good, and winning !

I just played a chess game in which I deliberately went for a pawn structure where I would have doubled pawns, but strong ones !
