Bullet is a well known time control played by many people. Ranging from 10 sec, to 2|1. Lots of chess players love bullet, and practice a lot to improve. Yet other people (including me) play it for fun! Bullet is a very fast time control, and is practically a "new world" of chess. People say that bullet may even be the most popular time control (apart from... maybe blitz)! Well here I welcome, Tricks and Tips for bullet! I really hope you enjoy this blog, and maybe these tricks will help you in real games!

1. Lefong

Probably the most popular bullet 'trick' is referred to as the Lefong. In this case, the player using this strategy will either gain lots of material, or a great position!

How does the 'Lefong' work?

Many bullet players premove their very first moves, relying on their opening theory. That is how this dirty trick helps. Here is an example:

In this position black will most likely premove 3.... Nf6, giving white an open opportunity to win a free bishop! The Lefong doesn't always work, but it has helped me win lots of material in some bullet games!

2. Premoving

In bullet, premoving has a very big role. If you couldn't premove, you would likely not improve in bullet. Like I mentioned, lots of bullet players are very fast, so premoving is a big skill!

3. Tactics

I'm sure you heard of the quote, "Chess is 99% tactics". Well, I don't really agree with this 'quote', but I don't formally disagree. Tactics help your board vision, and will definitely help you a LOT in bullet! Here is an example, The Greek Gift:

After this nice bishop sac, white pretty much has a winning position after Ng5+! I have used the greek gift against lots of people, and I have to admit, lots of people have played it against me...sad.png

Bullet is a fun time control that you can either play for fun, or competitive. Either way, you need some tips to play! I hope you enjoyed today's blog, and I really hope that these tips will help you somewhat in your games! Make sure to follow me for more blogs!
