Getting Better at Rapid Chess
When I was young, I always had the same exact problem, I moved really fast! Generally speaking, there is no problem with moving fast. Lots of people are used to it! The only problem with me was that the fast movement usually led to mistakes, blunders or even missed wins! Here is a position from one of my chess games.
This is an easy position that I had a very long time in one of my classical chess games. I had 50 minutes left on the clock, what I didn't notice (Because I haven't thought enough) is that you can make a beautiful Queen sacrifice and after that, just mate. The game ended up being a draw and after analyzing it for a very long time, it became one of my biggest upsets in my chess history.
About two years later (right now) I fixed my old problem. I started thinking more in games, but with my luck I got another problem! Ever since I fixed my old problem, things have gotten a lot better, my ratings went up in all the categories( except for bullet). Yet still, I made mistakes and even horrible blunders. Later I found out that thinking a long time isn't enough! I had to actually calculate. Most of the time in a chess game, I don't even think about the game! A lot of times I think about candy or sports. For now I am glad that I fixed my old problem
but still trying to get rid of this inconvenience. The purpose of this blog was to get some advice or maybe even give some! I hope you enjoyed it but for now, I am playing a lot more rapid games!
