
First Saturday round 2 | Bishop versus knight endgame
My round 1 game will be played on Tuesday morning and I started with round 2. I played against the Russian FIDE-Master Kirill Shoshin. He started with 1.c4. I replied c6 to iinvite him to the Slav defense. He continued with e4 to transpose to the Panov attack of the Caro-kann defense.
We followed the theory which I did not remember, but found myself and reached an equal endgame where he had an extra pawn as a double d-pawns and I got the pair of bishops.
After many exchanges we got a bishop eevrsus knight endgame with passed pawns on both sides. Most of the time it was equal, he only made 1 mistake where we only had minutes on the clock, and I did not find the refutation and we exchanged all the pieces from the board to settle to a draw.
