
First Saturday round 3 | Rook endgame against the highest rated player Al Muthaiah
In round 3 I played with International Master Al Muthaiah from India. He is the highest rated player in the tourney with a FIDE rating of 2474.
Against the chebanenko Sla I played a4 to force the exchange to open the b-file for future attack. then I mixed my preparation and the position was equal.
After his e5 break the position opened up and that helped my pair of bishops to get a small edge in the endgame. the pawn formation was again interesting like yesterday. We both had passed pawns. After the mass exchanges we got a rook endgame where after a longer calculation I forced exchanges and got a draw.
