2 weeks ago in the chess.com Sub-Saturday event I played with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

The time control was 5 minutes per player without increment.

He is the 6th highest rated player in classical chess and 2nd highest rated player of the world in blitz chess.   You can check his personal website at http://www.mvlchess.com/

I played an early e2-e4 in the Torre-attack and he replied in Grunfeld style with d7-d5.

My e4-e5 was a mistake which allowed him to undermind my center with c7-c5.

After a few soft moves from him, my position was equal and I was happy with my queenside majority.

I gave up my e5 pawn for his c5 pawn to be able to advance the pawns on the queenside.

He allowed me to have 2 connected passed pawns on the queenside for his center-pawns.

After his mistakes, I was able to push the pawns and get a winning position. Then I sacrificed a bishop for his passed pawn which was not necessary, but was still good to keep my advantage.

He played much quicker than me and when my time went down then instead of winning with quite moves, I decided to sacrifice an exchange, but I missed the weakness of my backrank and my position became lost:

Yesterday I solved puzzles for 2 hours.
