124th Knights Quest: Round 1 (04/10/2016)
Sunday, April 10
Right when I arrived back home from the Hales Corners Challenge tournament the previous day (from Saturday 4/9), I decided to play another 4-round rated tournament. This time, G/40 d5. It was a rather hard adjustment at first (going from G/60 d6 to G/40 d5 can be a rough transition, ugh. And G/40 d5 is unappealingly fast of a time control), and I played rather terribly in the endgame while trying to avoid flagging, leading to an acceleratingly losing position downfall in the end.
Still, this first round game itself was rather instructive in terms of the tactical intensity in the middle, which made it rather enjoyable of a way to start a Sunday afternoon, so yay.
