Chess.com India is thrilled to announce the World Cup Fan Contest in collaboration with ChessBase India. As part of the 2025 FIDE World Cup Fan Celebration, we will be hosting three online swiss events on 29 October 2025, designed for players across different rating groups. The event will take place in the Chess.com India club. Links to the event are given below. 

If you are an Indian resident and dream of watching the FIDE World Cup 2025 live in Goa, this is your chance.  The participant is expected to have played a minimum of 50 games on the site. The registration begins 60 minutes before the starting time of each event. The official rules are published here.

Tournament Details:
Date: 29th October, 2025
Format: Swiss league
Time Control: 3 + 0 (Three minutes per player)
Rounds: 11

Rating Brackets and Timings:
5 pm IST: Ratings 0 to 799 - Link to join
7 pm IST : Ratings 800 to 1399 - Link to join
9 pm IST: Ratings 1400 to 1999 - Link to join

The winner of each category will receive:

  • A two-day stay in Goa
  • Round-trip flight tickets
  • Passes to the live World Cup show at the venue

This is a first-of-its-kind contest, celebrating the chess festival in Goa during the FIDE World Cup. The event will take place on Chess.com India’s official club, and links to join will be available 60 minutes before each event begins.

Players rated below 800 can participate in all three events, while others can compete in their respective rating categories. 

Participating in this event assumes that you have read, you agree and accept the following Chess.com policies:

Prizes will be distributed by ChessBase India. The earlier version of this article mentioned the format as an Arena. Please note that the correct format is a Swiss League with 11 rounds.

Terms and Conditions:
1) Only Indian players are eligible for prizes. 
2) Winners must be a resident of India.
3) Every player must have already played atleast 50 blitz games on Chess.com prior to the start of the event.
4) Each winner (Total 3 winners) will win round-trip flights to Goa from their city. Winners will also be getting a two nights stay as their prizes.
Winners will also be getting match day tickets to the playing hall and the fan zone to enjoy the live commentary on-site in Goa.
5) All games and events will be thoroughly checked for FairPlay violations from the Chess.com Fairplay team
6) Winners will be asked to submit their Government ids for identification purposes.
7) Chess.com reserves the right to make any changes whenever necessary.
8) Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged with someone else.
9) All decisions taken by Chess.com will be final and binding.
10) Chess.com reserves the rights of admission into the tournaments.
