We're doing a 90+30 tournament at general chess discussion. It's a round robin tournament with 5 rounds. This is the 3rd part of the series where we cover the next 3 games played

Game 7:
Mac Vs Cbb
Both players come into this game winless, showing just how brutal this tournament is. I really struggle breaking down 1800s and Mac is very solid so I was dreading this one.
Finally I get a win in the books. The opening was shaky as it always is with the KID, but I think whites hesitation to play f4 saved this from being one of my worst tournaments I've played. I was quite lucky in the end that Ng8 existed and that the endgame was not as bad as I initially thought.
Game 8:
Lightning Vs Mac
It's the return of the Mac against the OTB novice lightning. But being 2500 on cc shows lightning's potential for OTB. He's fixed his time management in recent games and is showing he's not just a patzer.
A good result for both players. Lightning finally has a positive 90+30 result and Mac draws with black against a 2500 cc player. It was one of the more boring games but the next one would prove to be more interesting.
Game 9:
Lightning Vs Cbb
This is my last game and I was confident I'd leave the tournament on a high after a disastrous tournament. I didn't respect the opening lightning plays as white here and thought I'd easily defeat it in a 90+30 game without prepping...
It was a great miniature from lightning where his gambit paid off. A learning experience for me where I now know how to handle the opening (I still don't respect the opening) and a brilliant result in only lightning's 4th ever 90+30 game. It took me about 40 OTB games before I beat a 1950 and he's done it in 4 games!
It's a very close tournament now between the bottom 4 but the 2 pulling away from the rest of the pack are Smelly and Magician, who are yet to play...
