Not long after I started attending JCC, I was introduced to facilty member Tom Howerton. He was an avid chess player about 1500 strength. We played during lunch and sometimes between classes. Later in the year, he decided to try and bid for the '93 state scholastics. This tournament was a test run, for staff and facility, to see if we could do that. Even though this tournament occured after the '92 state championships, it was a success and we would win our bid for the 1993 State Scholastic Championships. Even though I didn't perform well, it was nice, for once, to play in a local multi day tournament.
Unfortunately, there are issues with my game scores in rounds 4 and 5. I'm still working on trying to recover the game score from round 4 and, while I have a complete game for round 5, I am not certain of the move order in one spot.
