Even worse than my last tournament.

K-12 Grade Championships: Beat a 2100, Drew to a 1200...

Hello, welcome back to my blog.

By the way, I suggest you don't scroll down any farther. I only post games of the lowest quality.

The reason this is coming out so late is because I was in the middle of writing the blog when my computer decided it was a perfect time to update. In doing so it deleted all of my blog.

The K-12 Grade Championships were from the 9th to 11th of December in National Harbor, Maryland, which is just outside of DC. The time control was G/90;d10. It was 7 rounds, and I played in the 8th grade section.

Very weird results.

Round 1:

I played a 600.

That's so cool, I'm going to go up 0 points from that.

Round 2:

I got paired against a 2100, which is weird since I usually play a lower-rated player in round two of the grade championships. But I'd rather play a 2150 than a possibly underrated 1300, so I'm fine with that.

OHH I'M SO LUCKY

Round 3:

Played a 1900. I pretty much got slowly squeezed until I was forced to lose something.

Round 4:

Played a 1200. I was clearly winning at a point, and somehow blundered it.

I'm very lucky. I've got to be losing there.

So I beat a 2100... and then this. Makes sense.

Round 5:

I'm playing another 1200. This game took a very long time. I think at the end of the game I had 2 or 3 minutes and he had just under a minute left.

Round 6:

This game was against a 1900.

Definitely the game I was most disappointed about. I really thought I was going to win.

Round 7:

I played a 1200. I rushed out of the opening and got a worse position, but he missed a tactic, giving me an advantage.

Cool. I had to win that to secure my rating going up at least a little bit.

So the tournament overall was OK for me. My rating went from 1645 to 1658.

My next blog will be about The Liberty Bell Open. That should be out at some point in January.

Edit: I never did Liberty Bell Open blog, due to laziness.

Thanks for reading. I sincerely hope this blog hasn't decreased your skill in chess.

If you choose to read a blog of mine, for your safety I have to suggest that you ignore the picture. And the games. And the words. But everything else is fine.
