Breyer's 3. Qf3 in the King's Gambit has two things going for it. One, besides 3. Nf3, it's a developing move that preserves castling rights following 3…Qh4+; and two, the (let's face it) premature queen move sights key squares d5 and f7. White might coordinate bishop and queen like a 1st-grade Scholars' Mate expert.
