first move and popular opening tier list for white

Hello yall! Today, I will be doing a tier list for all first moves and some popular openings on chess.com. I got the inspiration from Top Chess after they did a tier list like this, but they left out my favorite opening, the Van't Kruijs opening, so today, I will try my best not to leave out any first moves or popular chess openings. So what are you waiting for? Let me show you what opening to play!

Anderssen opening(a3)

The Anderssen opening is not the best opening out there. It blocks the dark bishop from coming out very far, and it also doesnt make a lot of room for your rook. It also doesnt attack or defend anything useful. This goes in the d tier.

Sodium attack(Na3)

The Sodium attack isnt the most useful thing ever, but it does have some purposes. It defends the b5 square, and it also beats Eugene bot. If you dont know what Im talking about, read my previous blog. This deserves a c tier.

Ware opening(a4)

If you watch Croissant, this is called the Azure gambit, but he says its not a good opening at all, and I disagree. First of all, this opening honors a certain someone... and no, Im not in love with this guy. It defends the b5 square, which doesnt see much action, but it can be useful. It also prepares for the Viih_sou opening(a4, e5, Ra3) to be played, which is proven to be a great opening by many titled players. This goes into the s tier.

Nimzowitsch-Larsen attack(b3)

This move is surprisingly not horrible. It fianchettoes the dark bishop, which i think is a great thing to do, but it does nothing else, and becuase of that, it goes in the d tier.

Polish opening(b4)

This move also doesnt do much. It does fianchettoes the bishop, but it can block it, too. It does defend a5 and c5, though, which is good in some cases. c tier it is.

Saragossa opening(c3)

This move blocks the knight from moving into a good place, and it also doesnt attack or defend anything. It does open up a space for the queen, but you shouldnt bring your queen out too early. This goes into the f tier.

Van Geet opening(Nc3)

This opening has a few benefits. It gets the knight into a comfortable position, and it also attacks the d5 square, which can be vital. b tier.

English opening(c4)

This is NOT a recommended opening at all. I played it once against a much lower rated person, and I almost lost. Here is the proof. It doesnt do too much for the knight, and the dark bishop cant move. This is definitely going into f tier.

Mieses opening(d3)

This is shockingly a great opening. It gives the dark bishop some room, and the knight can still move around. it also prepares for a queenside castle. This is going into a tier.

Queen's Pawn opening(d4)

This is an ok opening. like the previous opening, it frees the bishop, but it can block the knight. Sure, it goes for the center, but thats not my thing. b tier.

Queen's gambit(d4, d5, c4)

Nope. Nope. Absolutely not. This is just disrespectful. why give up the pawn? f tier.

London system(d4, d5, Nf3, Nf6, Bf4)

This opening is quite good. It goes for the attack, and its pretty hard to defend against. This deserves an a tier.

Van't Kruijs opening(e3)

This is the best opening of all time. It is the quickest way to castle, which is very safe for your king. I know you can also do kings pawn opening for a quick castle, but I dont want my pawn being attacked without defenders. Here is a blog on how to play Van't Kruijs opening correctly. This goes into the s tier, no argument about that.

King's Pawn opening(e4)

This is the most popular chess opening out there. It attacks the center, which most people would say is good, but I prefer a safe king rather than a nice attack. b tier.

King's Pawn opening: The Bongcloud(e4, e5, Ke2)

This is seen as a disrespectful opening. Probably because this is a horrible opening, and you want to show your opponent how much better you are. You have to move your king for this one, which means you cant castle, and thats not good at all. f tier.

King's gambit(e4, e5, f4)

Again, why give up the pawn? Thats pretty pointless. f tier.

Barnes opening(f3)

This is a terrible opening. It blocks the knight from doing anything useful, does nothing for the bishop or the queen, and doesnt attack or defend anything useful. This is definitely going into f tier.

Fools mate(f3, e5, g4, Qh4#)

If you actually play this opening frequently, you must be some kind of troll, because this opening will NOT help you improve at chess at all. This is the quickest way to get checkmated, and Im pretty sure the goal of chess is not to get checkmated. f tier. No, sorry, z tier.

Reti opening(Nf3)

This is not too bad of an opening. You aim to control most of the central squares with your knight. It doesnt get any other pieces out, though. b tier.

Bird's opening(f4)

This is not the ideal opening to play. It doesnt help your bishop at all. It can help your knight, though, but the pawn will almost certainly get attacked. d tier.

King's Fianchetto opening(g3)

This is a strong opening. As it says in the name, you can fianchetto your light bishop, and it also makes an area for the knight to go to. This shall go in a tier.

Grob opening(g4)

To most chess engines, this is the worst chess opening out there. I disagree. You can fianchetto your bishop, and you also have a nice space for your knight, but you dont have an outpost for it. Becuase of this, it goes into c tier.

Clemenz opening(h3)

Its not great at all, other than the fact that your knight can go to its happy place, and thats about it. d tier.

Amar opening(Nh3)

Ok, why do you put your knight there? There are no benefits to this opening, other than the fact that you defend g5, and i doubt anyone will start with g5. This goes in f tier.

Kadas opening(h4)

We have reached the final opening on our list! This is the twin of the Viih_sou opening, and because of that, and also that it makes a nice spot for your knight to go to, it goes into the a tier.

And thats it! Now, I bet yall want to see the tier list, so here it is!
