Chessand "Common Courtesy'

I find it very difficult to understand why players cannot at least respond to an initial "hello/greeting" at the beginning of a match or "game" ! AFTER INITIAL GREETING if you do not want to converse, say or utter a single more word FINE,THEN DON'T!

I think "Common Courtesy"dictates...NO, in fact I think it DEMANDS an initial greeting , maybe even an exchange of first names within that first hello.

I don't feel this is asking to much from men or women playing a game considered to be a "Gentleman's" game. After all in the real life person vs.person matches they do it.

Let us NOT BECOME cold and callused just because we are on the net.
