The Monumental Blunder...

While cruising the information superhighway in my search for Bobby Fischer and intelligent life, I took a wrong exit and wound up on the wrong side of the tracks!  If only we could keep our blunders relegated to the chess board.

Stumble along with me and Take a chronological quick trip of verbal blunders made during the reigns of the last three Kings...and prepare to be afraid...be VERY afraid.  Their gaffes will, at the very least...leave a pawn just shaking his head.

THE BELOW ARE ACTUAL DOCUMENTED QUOTES...NO JOKE!!!  Names (but of course you already know you they are) have been omitted to protect the guilty.

The only thing to fear - is fear itself ??  Oh yeah???  I don't think so, Franklin.

And I did NOT play chess with that woman...Monica Lewinski!

"It depends on how you define "alone"...there were a lot of times when we were alone, but I never really thought we were."

"It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is."

"I have a brother who is a drug addict.  I am very proud of him."

"Looking back, I should have inhaled."

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"

"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."  quoted on Sept. 13, 2001

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."---as quoted from the same man, six months later

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

“I’ve now been in 57 states – I think one left to go.”

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” – referring to a Kansas tornado that actually killed 12 people

“The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.”

“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today..."

These are funny and sad at the same time.  We put our leaders on a pedestal and expect perfection, then we examine them under a microscope looking for little flaws.  Everyone says things that are stupid in retrospect, so I can excuse the minor things said.  Besides, it's hard to read ahead on a teleprompter and correct it while you are talking.

Our big task this November is to choose the lesser of the two evils.
