An Important Theoretical Endgame (+ Video)
Hi people of the 64 squares kingdom. Rooks endgames are the most likely to happen in chess, probably because very frequently those are the last pieces we develop. Today we are studying an important endgame in Rook and Pawn vs Rook theory. This is the one where the side with the pawn cuts the opponent’s king over a file.
Of course, there are two essential and very basic endgames we should know to better understand this; they are Lucena and Philidor (in some line we could transpose to some of them). Click here to see a post I wrote about it.

Some news and comments
- Cuban National Championship finished this week, the winner for second year in a row was young and greatest Cuban talent GM Carlos D. Albornoz.
- Hompy Koneru (2580) wins Cairns Cup in St. Louis. World Champion Ju Wenjun (2583) was second. An important note is that the young talented Carissa Yip (2412) from USA beat the great Chinese player.
