MVP Chess on YouTube is dedicated to bringing the great works of classical chess literature to life. After becoming the first channel to complete My 60 Memorable Games by Bobby Fischer, I am excited to launch a new series on another timeless masterpiece: Capablanca’s Best Chess Endings by Irving Chernev.

This book is one of the finest guides to endgame play ever written. Chernev selected 60 of José Raúl Capablanca’s greatest endings and explained each one with clarity and insight. Capablanca was famous for his effortless technique and deep understanding of simple positions. His games remain essential study material for players who want to improve their strategic sense and endgame skills.

In this series I will analyze every game in Chernev’s collection. Each video presents the moves with modern visuals while staying true to the spirit of the original text. The goal is to make these classics accessible to a new generation of players and to show how timeless Capablanca’s ideas remain.

The first episode features a young Capablanca facing Juan Corzo in Havana in 1901. It is a brilliant bishop versus knight ending where a passed pawn becomes the key to victory.

If you enjoyed the Fischer series or if you want to sharpen your endgame technique this new project is for you. Subscribe to MVP Chess on YouTube and follow along as we explore every elegant finish in Capablanca’s best chess endings.
