Introduction to New Series: The Journey of the Beginner's Studies

Hey everyone! If you're like me, you have noticed that a lot (and I mean a lot!) of users on Chess.com are beginners. My rating is 913, and while being a beginner rating, it is better than 70% of other users (!!!). Not saying that others are bad or that I'm good (because I'm not), but just a lot of users aren't how good people expect the average person to be. The average 15 year old is supposed to be 1500 if you look it up, but most people will never reach that rating in their entire lifetime. But there is a way to fix this.

If you have a coach, what do they make you do? Read chess books! Look at grandmaster's or great's games! Overall, they want you to learn. But do you think the average user has a coach, or even a good amount of chess books? I know I don't, no coach and one book. And without premium, chess.com only offers 1 lesson per week. I'm glad to have it, but that's not a lot. And if studying is the best way to get better, then there should be an easier way to learn without a coach. Enter my new blogs.

This series will go over everything I am reading about in the chess books I will read online. Every chapter I will blog about the takeaways and lessons so that you can be better as I become better (hopefully). Here's the schedule:

Book One: Modern Chess Openings - 15th Edition

As White (Double King Pawn Openings):

Chapter 1: King's Gambit

Chapter 2: Guicco Piano

Chapter 3: Evans Gambit

Chapter 8*: Vienna Game

Chapter 16: Bishops Opening

*- Some chapters are not going to be blogged about because I am not going to include them in my studies.

As Black - 1.e4 (Semi-Open Games)

Chapter 4: Sicilian Defense

As Black - 1.d4 (Indian Openings)

Chapter 2: Nimzo-Indian Defense

Chapter 3: Queen's Indian Defense

That is for Part 1 (openings), which will start coming out this Friday. The goal (as White) is to combine all of the capabilities of these openings into a super opening with plenty of attacking chances. As Black, we are just going to study the openings I know I am going to start playing. If you're wondering why I am excluding some openings, it is because I don't think they are relevant to my long-term goals. After Part One, we will talk about tactics, positional play, endgames, and then review games after all of those topics are done.

That's it for today! If you're a beginner, I would suggest looking at my blogs and learning along with me. As I mentioned before, blogs will be on Friday, and hopefully I will have top blogger status by then. See you soon!
