Puzzle 3-1-2026
A variation on the March 1, 2026, Daily Puzzle, which featured a composition by Van Woelderen: https://www.chess.com/daily/2026-03-01 The original is better, but this variation had a conclusion I thought was interesting, too.

Adapted from a position shared by @MagNielsCarlsen from a game of his.
Inspired by a puzzle idea of @MagNielsCarlsen. Solution confirmed using tablebase to be winning for White with best play by both sides.

To be fair, Black has a material advantage at the end but he needs to be very careful to avoid losing it in the middle game. Slightly modified from a position occurring in this game against a beginner-level bot: Chess: Juan-BOT vs set...

There is only one winning move in this position. It leads to a forced checkmate, but there are multiple solutions in some lines. The puzzle continues with a unique solution that is the most testing for White.

Another puzzle where what doesn't work is maybe as interesting as what does.

I think playing this puzzle is the most practical way to solve it versus trying to visualize it all the way to the end. I decided to give this puzzle a name and call it "Vision: Impossible" because visualizing all of the steps through to the en...
This is just a different twist on this daily puzzle: Daily Puzzle: 07/12/2025 - Check This Out! - Chess.com The solution is basically the same, it just has a bit extra.
This puzzle was featured as the daily puzzle on July 13, 2025: Daily Chess Puzzles - Your Daily Chess Challenge - Chess.com Now that the puzzle has been published I just wanted to have a copy of it here, too. I created it as part of ...
