Afternoon everyone, and welcome along to another of those 'my week in chess' type offerings of mine.

So what have I been looking at this week? A while ago someone on the site asked if there were any books on Salo Flohr. I have two.

A cheap and cheerful 'Best Games' selection.

And a rather nice Russian Language volume.

'Outstanding Chess Players of The World' series.

That one was compiled by a man who's name will be familiar to those of my generation - Victor Baturinsky.

The Russian series is a joy - lots of games that you won't find elsewhere and plenty of rare pictures - sadly of poor quality, but again, not to be found elsewhere.

So lets look at some games and pictures!

Flohr - Rubinstein. 1929.

An instructive early game characteristic of Flohr.

I. Rabinovich - Flohr. Moscow 1935.
A game I mentioned in one of my Latvian chess player articles.
Warsaw Olympiad 1935. via !TUUR on twitter.
A game with some rather surprising moves and an unusual final position.
Flohr in Czech army uniform, 1937.

Flohr was incredibly strong in technical endgames - I posted a famous Bishop Pair win against Botvinnik in a small article about the match some time ago. Another Bishop pair display - a forgotten game that is just text book technique.

With Larsen and Geller. Copenhagen 1966.

And a little tactical exercise for you.

A simple offering today - but hopefully something here that you will have enjoyed.

Take care everyone!
