Good afternoon everyone.

Back off holidays with a very simple, unpretentious offering - just because I can!

I have started on another blog based on my holiday reading, but decided to throw this in quickly - I hope you enjoy it. Well, something a little different to my normal posts, if nothing else.

So, for various reasons I have been revisiting Simagin over the past few days. Well, I am Simaginfan, with my avatar in the header picture above. Amongst other things my friend @kamalakanta   sent me some nice pictures - via the great Voronkov - which I will throw in here. Thanks mate!!

So, on Voronkov I had reason to dig out his  book on Simagin

At the back of the book is a set of puzzles from Simagin's games. The kind of thing we used to work with before online tactics trainers and so on. I will give them here, with apologies for not tidying up the images ( Sunday beef and Yorkshire pudding to be sorted!)

Have fun with those - solving from the diagram like we used to!

I have chosen 6 of various difficulties to include the games from, and will throw in the pictures.
Puzzle 5.

Puzzle 9.

Puzzle 14.

Puzzle 17.

Puzzle 29. This one is just incredible!

From the Voronkov book on Simagin. Simagin - Portisch I think ( I may be wrong!) - I don't think you will find it anywhere else on the internet. It's nice to post new pictures.

And finally puzzle 32. I included it for historical reasons. This was game 1 vol. 1 of Informator.

Just beautiful!

I hope you enjoyed the chess! With a special thank you to Sergei Voronkov. The best.

Before I go, a big congratulations to Worcs on their 50 over cup win yesterday. What a game! One for the true cricket fans, not the chequebook wavers. Magnificent game from both teams.

As mentioned in a previous blog, I love my good honest pros. Matty Waite - unwanted by the mighty Yorkshire - got his moment of glory. The first thing he did was to dedicate the win to the late Josh Baker. Just a class act. I had a tear in my eye too big guy. JB33. Never forgotten - even on the biggest day of the good honest pro's life. That was special.
