Back with part 3, and some bonus stuff for a fan of Alekhine who has been kind enough to contribute to the comments section last time round. One more part to do after this.

Suggestion for anyone out there who has some nice pictures that are not generally to be found via a basic google search, or has the tech skills involved. Would it be possible to create a file on the site for these less known images, or for you to post some of your own? - will gladly link to them if you can.

Lots of game databases about, but apart from chessarch, nowhere to go to look for good pictures.

Thanks!!

O.K. Let's start with a beauty!!

1912. 35

As always with these group photographs with rarely pictured players, right click, save as, etc, then you can expand the picture and crop out the image you want. Lot's in that one!

1913. 02. Englund - of the gambit - and Nyholm
1913. 03. spot the error!
1913. 03. Great one of Loman ( despite wrong initial I think,) and 'Landborg'.
1913. 04

That is indeed Moller of Moller attack in the Italian, and the defence in the Ruy Lopez.

1913. 05 Good quality of a known one of Alekhine.
1913. 06. Another good one of Bernstein.
1913. 194. P.P. Saburov. A name associated with the St. Petersburg Tournaments 1909 and 1914, but a lot of other things as well
1913. 227

A bit of fun - I love the Janowski depiction! I daresay Mr. Suave Capablanca was probably not impressed!  My guess is that the image given as him is supposed to be Marshall

1914. 04
1914. 04. Reti, a rare one of Breyer and also a rare one of Karel Opocenski
1914. 52

Really nice one of Schlechter! No, I don't think that's a cigarette in his mouth.

1914. 66
1914. 81

Lots of Bernstein this time round - may have posted this one previously, but can't remember.

1914. 82. Well known, but a great copy.

Two excellent photos of Capablanca. Not easily found.

1914. 82
1914. 89
1914. 91. St. Petersburg 1914. Good version - I have used it myself.

O.K. Some bonus stuff from my files.

And one from the same article - if you Don't know who it is, you will know his chess legacy!!
Some Alekhine material. It is from La Russie Illustree, after his return from winning the World championship.
