Where Chess all Started for Subhan Khurram
Hi guys! My name is Subhan Khurram and I love to play chess. One of my biggest chess inspirations are Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan (Vishy) Anand, & Hikaru Nakamura. I learned a lot on how to play from them.
Playing chess first started off from my best friend in school and this person basically thought me how to play Chess! He only told me how to play Chess and the basics. He also teached me Tactics! I learned a lot more things about chess by watching videos on YouTube.

I learned waaaaay more about Chess on chesskid.com It's a website who I really recommend for chess beginners or amateurs. I applied those things I learned from chesskid.com into all chess matches, thanks to the help of FM (Fun Master) Mike Klein who explains things very well and very precisely in his Chess video lessons!

After that, I started playing Chess on Chess.com and I find this Chess Community Site extreeeemely amazing. Lots of fun, playing from people around the world.
Although what I learned in chess were in fact, look sufficient for an average chess player, was in fact, not much. I've been playing for WEEKS on Chess.com but I haven't even had my first Checkmate (when the king is on check but has no legal moves and can't do CPR [Capture, Protect, Run], according to FM Mike Klein) on Chess.com.
When I look into playing Chess more closely and be extremely observant of what pieces I need to move and capture, that's when I started to get better.
After a couple days, I was just playing a normal match of chess and realized that I'm actually a few moves away from Checkmating the opponent's King!!
My opponent had blundered so I delivered Checkmate with a Rook that is being protected by a helper Bishop!
I was sooooo excited to see this happen! After that, I keep playing chess and won more and more matches by Checkmate but most of them were won on time.
I kept on playing Chess for months and months and months, learning from Grandmasters such as Magnus Carlsen through a Magnus Trainer app and watching more tutorials about Chess.
On June 6, 2018, I challenged my Math teacher to a game of Chess. He agreed to it! He said that I can't beat him excessively so then we shook hands and played a match of Chess together.
I was using all my Chess knowledge and skills and tried to beat him. It turned out to be a victoryyyyy!!!!!!!!!! I won against my Math teacher by Checkmate!!!! I finally had a chance to prove him wrong, and it felt good, indeed!
Anyways, after 2 days since that unforgettable match against my Math teacher, Summer Break began!! I continued to play Chess, and stayed motivated!!
I did something new on Chess.com. That was joining Blitz Tournaments (since in Bullet I'm not so good). Now, believe it or not, I got soooo good I even managed to beat a few players rated 1400 - 1450!! I can remember one was Checkmate and a few others were won on time.
Anyways, I would love to thank Magnus Trainer, Chess.com lessons, Chesskid.com, and YouTube videos on amazing Chess support!! I really love to play chess now and can't stop playing. It looks like I got BRAINWASHED in Chess!! Nothing can stop me from playing Chess I will stay motivated and positive!
Stay Motivated & Stay Positive!
Subhan Khurram
