No revenge - Paleochora Round 3

Well, after the first two rounds I decided it would do better to my chess and preparation if I wrote the recap after the tournament (Read about the previous round HERE). It means that now it is over, so there will be no more rounds, but I am still here to show my games to the crowd, and I intend to analyze them psychologically even more, since I am more eager to admit my mistakes than I would have been otherwise Also, this way, I can go into more details, because I have the time! YAY!

Before getting to the games, I would like to tell you about a new chess improvement website, ChessMood, which might interest you. They have unlocked all their 300+ hours of Grandmasters’ courses, that can help you even more to improve every part of your chess, and until 27th July, it's all FREE. If you like their site, and decide to subscribe, I have a personal link, which offers 20% discount if you sign up with it (and this way you also support me)! https://chessmood.com/?r=Szefru
I personally think the website is really promising, it is worth at least a look! 🙂

So back to the games! My third opponent was a 15 years old lady, whose sister fought hard against me last year on the same tournament, but in the end I won, and I really hoped she wasn't seeking revenge

As you can see, my opponent had almost 600 rating difference, but there was no time, neither need to underestimate her because of this. In an ideal world we could say that FIDE rating points represent one's strength, but in my opinion that might not be the case with everyone, because

  1. They might play on only 1 tourney yearly, which can go very well or very badly (or in between ) which doesn't necessarily show their real skills
  2. If you think about it, rating should be the AVERAGE of what you know, which means, that sometimes you can overperform, sometimes under. For example, I have beaten people in chess who were above 2400, and lost against people under 1700.
  3. Someone might be bad at one part of the game (tactics, openings, endgames, etc.), and if somehow they survive through that part or successfully avoid it, they can play much better. (but of course it can negatively affect their points if they don't)

Conclusion: don't underestimate anyone

See you tomorrow with the next rounds!  (This time for real )
