Club Management Edition One: The Basics.
I get it, I get it, it’s not the most original idea in the world. But starting today, I’m going to be releasing a series of blogs about club management. It’s something I’m passionate about: I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone this, but it was because of this blog: (https://www.chess.com/blog/GabT2010/how-to-start-your-club) that I created my club that has now grown to almost 7,000 active members. As I implied, you’ve probably seen something like this before: so I’m going to try to put my own spin on it. Experienced admins: stay tuned for later editions!
- Hover over 'Social' on the left sidebar, and click 'Clubs'.
- Click 'Create a Club' on the right side of the screen.
- Add your club information and customize your settings.
- Click 'Create' to finalize the club!
Step Two: Make The Club Attractive
- Upload a profile picture and select a background image. For your background, I would suggest looking up ‘Minimalist Nature Wallpapers'. For your logo, you can try using (www.canva.com) to create your own, or you could find a stock image.
- Choose a name for your club, and if you wish pick a home country. Make sure your name is something you are passionate about and won’t regret later!
- Write a description. In your public description, tell everyone the purpose of your club and who you want to join. In your private description, keep your members up to date on new events you make in the team! Most importantly: don’t use Artificial Intelligence. This makes your club like generic and vague.
- What kind of club will it be? In the description, you can pick from options like social, fan club, local or company club, and more!
- Be sure to check of as many activities as you can! This will keep your club active, and you can’t get challenges from other clubs for categories you don't check.
Step Three: Keep Your Club Safe
- Choose whether your club is open for anyone to join, or if members will need your approval, or the approval of an admin to join (if you don’t know what an admin is, don’t worry, I’ll teach you in the next blog!).
- Decide if you want the club content and member list to be private. I would suggest using both, because if the club is public, why would anyone join?
- If you wish, can limit forum topics to only yourself and the club admins.
