Important tuxedo measurements include chest, waist, shoulders, sleeve length, and outseam.
Chest
- Stand up straight with good posture
- Wrap the tape measure around your chest under your armpits
- Make sure the tape is smooth and flat against your body
Waist
- Find your natural waist
- Measure around your waist, one inch below your belly button
- Pull the tape snug, but not too tight
Shoulders
- Align the end of the tape measure at one shoulder seam
- Extend the tape measure across your collar bone to the other shoulder seam
Sleeve length
- Place the tape measure at the base of your neck, where it joins your back
- Pull the tape over to your shoulder, down to your elbow, and down to about one inch past your wrist bone
Outseam
- Place the tape measure at waist level along your hip bone
- Stretch the tape measure all the way to the floor
Tips
- Use a tailor's tape instead of a standard measuring tape
- Get help from a friend or family member if possible
- Accurate measurements will provide a better fit
