
International Chess Federation
The International Chess Federation is an international organization based in Switzerland that connects the various national chess federations and acts as the governing body of international chess competition. It is usually referred to by its French acronym FIDE (Fee-day) NOT (Fide).
FIDE was founded in Paris, France, on July 20, 1924. This is the organization that can give a chess player the title of an international master or grandmaster.
