OK-- I just wrote this amazingly wonderful blog only to have a d/c.  I shall attempt to duplicate the sincerity and enthusiasm of the last post but I can't make any promises (lol).  Here goes:

So I've gotten some amazing advice from some genuinely nice and encouraging people tonight. It seems that for every person that says something rancid to me there are 10 that pass their words of wisdom on to me.

I've been pointed in the direction of the tactics trainer and and have been playing it senslessly for hours.  I LOVE it.  It is awesome.  The instant gratification of knowing whether you've done something wrong or write is helpful.  I'm one of those people that HATE not being correctred.  If I'm doing something wrong or there is a more logical, efficient way of getting something done then let me know.  I'm glad that TT is (wow that looks like a pi sign:) here to help me out.  It's funny because a lot of the moves that I thought were logical and efficient and offensive were not.  Hopefully with the write training I will not be a passive player in a few months.

I would like to start reading up on chess.  I'm just not sure what lit to start with.  Im amazed by all of the jargon and "chess-speak " that was involved with the mentor that I used today.  I started googling up the players (are they still called players when they're pro or is there some title for the great ones?) whose games the trainer was based of off.  All I can say is WOW!!!!!

I'm thinking about joining a chess club when I move.  Hopefully it will be a means of socialization despite my slight language barrier.  AND it'll help me get better with my game.  Honestly, I'm intimidated by the thought of playing with others in person.  I've not played with people my own age who know what their doing.  But I've got to get out of my comfort zone and take some risks.  OH!!!! I guess I can use that lesson in my chess playing as well.  What do you know?

Well I told myself I'd actually go to sleep at a decent hour and wake up at 5 to get my run in.  Let's see if THAT actually happens.  Smile

Enough of my rants and raves for today!
