Checkers is Better Than Chess
You may be wondering... "why is @vik-mouse-slip not blogging on chess.com?"
Okay, nobody's wondering that, are they?
Either way, the reason is because I have come to the realization that checkers is far, far superior to chess. I have not been blogging on chess.com because I have been blogging on checkers.com!
To reiterate: CHECKERS IS FAR SUPERIOR TO CHESS.
Here's a 2200-level checkers puzzle for you to solve:
White to move
Solution: 1. c3d4 f4e3 2. h2g3 e3g1 3. g3f4 g5e3 4. d4f2 g1b6 5. a5g7, +-
Pretty hard and complex, right? Meanwhile, here's a 2200-level chess puzzle for you:
It's a basic mate in 3. Do you get what I'm saying? Checkers is at a whole other level of complexity compared to chess. But I understand that many people are skeptical of the relative complexity of checkers compared to chess: so I'll debunk common myths about checkers.
Myth #1: Checkers is simpler because all the pieces move the same.
Not true at all! Common variants of checkers have many, many more pieces than chess, and that easily compensates for that fact. I would argue that the average checkers position in something like Canadian Checkers or Malaysian Checkers (30 pieces each on a 12x12 board) have more candidate moves of equal worth than chess. There's also the possibility of moving several times in one turn, which is impossible in chess! In other words, checkers is more complex than chess!
Myth #2: Checkers is solved!
Nope! The variant of checkers that was solved is International Checkers, which is much less complex than Canadian Checkers. Either way, don't take International Checkers lightly, as it has 500,995,484,682,338,672,639 (500 quintillion) possible positions! Either either way, unless you memorize 500 quintillion positions like Max Deutsch, International Checkers is still a complex and interesting game.
Myth #3: I'm playing chess, while you're playing checkers!
Yes, you are! You're playing chess, tilting, flagging and raging, while I'm playing checkers, with one of the most inclusive online board game communities. Serious checkers players are some of the nicest people I've met! Much better than the chess community, as I've learned with the recent Hans Niemann cheating allegations. So have fun playing chess, I'll be playing checkers! Vikrat - signing out!
