Ok an important one for us all. The league we're in has, quite frankly, the most absurd rule ever. We're not actually allowed to remove players from a team once they sign up! Basically, this means if a weaker player accidentally signs up they have...
Another match ready to go and definitely going ahead, this time we're taking on Finland, our second Scandinavian team. Good luck defeating the happiest country in the world! https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1520429
The next match is beginning, catching me out as I thought they weren't playing with so few members! Now the game is going, good luck to all those playing!
Hammering our way home once again, sadly this was because five of our eight wins were time outs! I'd note that we were winning one of our other games in this match before the flag fell on our opponents. A good win for our U1000.
One of our smaller matches, only three board, there were four set up and then our player passed the maximum grade just as it started - slight glitch on chess.com! Player of this match had to be @7sistersboy who took the two much needed wins that a...
We have the second round of the TMCL up so we need our strongest U1700 team https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1510481. Ready to take part @Mjrbeck @bigbeck85 @Obscuremelon @Luna-Sabah @SputnikLizard @Andrew4949 @DaleW7694 @carloshalp...
Have a look at the following map to see just what parts of the world we've played!
So this week sees the Brazil Open match come to a rather disappointing end with games timing out for both our and their team. Slip up are easy when playing online, especially when you’ve been thinking about your game right up to the end of your t...
In rather a disappointing match, where clocks reigned supreme, our open team drove home another victory. Unfortunately, six games were decided by the clock but at least we've finally defeated the largest country in South America!
It’s been quite a while since my last catch up so take a deep breath…

The Iceland match for the U1200 has finally started, a few nudges given to the opposing team captain to have their last player join on. Its Jordan’s first match online with ...
A well fought match by the weaker Mexicans, they did their best but it would have been difficult for them to beat our champion U2000s. Well done guys!
A big thank you to all those who took part and donated, managing to raise £115 for a valuable cause. The donation page will be closing next week, so if you haven't put a little in the pot and want to add more feel free. We've had a chat and look t...
The next battle for the U1200s is lined up, this time against Viking territory. They've already signed up two players in one day, so having the match take place is likely. Sign up at https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1513049
A sound victory for our U1200 so a big congrats to Nichola, Claire, David Battell, Cameron and Ieuan! We haven't played many African teams so its cracking to see us take on the teams from a different continent (and win!). Well done.
Another European country to take on, this time calling in all our U1600s! https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1512003
Sadly one of worst defeats in a long, long time. Indian managed to crush us with a 9 - 1 victory but we will be back one day! Better luck next time guys!
This one is for our U1400 against Belgium! Good luck defeating this fellow European country!Â

We have the first round of the TMCL up and we need another 3 U1700 players. https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1510481. Ready to take part @Mjrbeck @bigbeck85 @Obscuremelon?
Looks like this challenge is much more likely to go ahead as they already have three players signed up and we have three as well. You can sign on https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1510527Â , @carloshalpinos, @7sistersboy.Â
This time our U1600 take the close win, with Anthony finishing of his opponent on top board. Starting out with two loses, it was swayed toward our opponents at one point, but Castell Nedd were the ones to take the win.
This one was a fight on top board, @Knight-Rider-Nic battling for the win. In the end her rook and pawn ending and opponent's blunder in the second game gave us the win in this U1200 4 -2
A mighty victory against Libya! 8-0! @SputnikLizard had the hardest time on board 1, playing against a 2000, but still managed a draw. The rest of the U2000 time out-graded the others nicely and achieved the results expected. Well done!
Congratulates to 2SetViolin for their 4.5 - 3.5 victory against our U1600 team. It was a very close match, decided by the very last game playing, but unfortunately the win was to be our opponent's.
Looks like we almost have our best team up, but here's the next match for the U1800s, the biggest country in Africa with legendary landscapes, Roman ruins and huge deserts! https://www.chess.com/club/matches/castell-nedd/1506289
