@whoopicush you certainly can run the day before without much risk of hurting your performance on race day. Just keep it shorter than your normal distance and slower if you feel like you need to. Day of, just get your shakeout in, do some strides and your typical pre run routine. The hours before your race are not the time to be experimenting with new routines. Stick to what you’ve been doing in training and you should be golden!
We've had a great comeback against The Legions after we lost 3 games on time-outs. We're now leading by 2 points with 2 games left, so no chance to lose!
@ComradesMarathon I’m very well aware that it’s a not “good” to make blitz improvement the goal 😅 I’m really just looking for a buddy to study with is all! And maybe just a friend to play some blitz with.
@TenaciousD4 I've never used Discord before but that sounds like a good idea. But trying to improve in blitz isn't a good idea, it's better to focus on the specifics of the game (openings, tactics, etc.).
@mailreversed 5'10 is extremely tall for a 12-year old... Both you and @whoopicush would benefit from fast intervals (300s, 200, 150s) while not neglecting easy runs of about 5 miles or so.
Whoopicush, great job with the 5:04 mile. You will need a real running coach to tell you how to improve from where you are. You are still young, so you need running advice that is appropriate for your age too. If you were an older person like me, a coach would show you some drills to work on your running technique, and weight training. Even though you are really good at shorter distances, it is also good to run 5 mile runs for training.
So im a fourteen year old boy and my fastest mile for track was a 5:04. Does anybody have any advice for me to get in like the 4:40s by the end of the season?
I've recently been trying to improve my game--namely in blitz. I am not too strong, but I was wondering if there's anyone here that would like to hop into a discord call or something sometime to do a study together and maybe a sparring match? If there's not already a group discord, what is the thoughts one making one? Thanks everyone! Have a great weekend and enjoy some spring miles!
Sometimes I listen to music sometimes not, tomorrow for my long run along the canal I have Norah Jones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd lined up. Nice and relaxed!
