I’ve used the Nike Streakfly 2, an incredibly lightweight shoe, but not durable and already damaged after a few runs. I still haven’t used the Nike Victory Air 2 but it will be my track workout/racing shoes. I recently got a discounted pair of Asics Magic Speed 3 which I will use for tempo runs and +10km races. The Nike Vaporfly 2 and New Balance Fuelcell handle all my long and easy runs. What does everyone else have on their feet?

What do folks think: does the cold weather extend the time needed for recovery from a run?
2023 came and went by as fast as Kipchoge. We saw a new marathon World Record (Kiptum 2:00:35) and some records set on the track (2000 metres and 2 miles). What did I miss? I'm curious to know what your own personal achievements were in running this year!
Hi all! What are everyone's goals for running this year?? Any specifics? Please share My goals will be similar as last year: 1) Run more consistently. If I run every other day in a week, will call it a successful week. Want at least 25 of those. 2) Run a 10K in person. 3) Improve lifestyle choices, and quit a couple bad habits which hinder running. Looking forward to hearing from others!
Happy New Year everybody! Let us know what your New Year's running resolutions or goals are for 2021. I have a few goals, but one I hope to achieve in the near future is running 5km under 18 minutes. I look forward to reading about your goals.

I could not resist the Nike Zoom Rival Fly's on sale. I've never ran in Nike's nor cared for the brand but the "cheap" price and hype around breaking2 and carbon fibre plates made me curious. I've watched a few reviews on this shoe and none of them have been too favourable. I'm actually looking forward to trying out a 10km road race in these in about a week. I'll let you know the result! What is your running shoe brand of choice? Ever ran in Nike Zoom's?

With the Tokyo Olympics approaching that means we are going to start seeing athletes taking our sport (running) to its highest level. Which running events are you most interested in watching this year? I'm personally looking forward to the marathon and 1500m... I'm also disappointed Sir Mo Farah will not be participating in the 10,000m! If you find any interesting news in relation to running in Tokyo 2021 please share it here. Good luck over the chess board and on the trails!

Anyone know if this measures the vertical distance as well as the presumed horizontal? A friend of mine measured a fairly hilly run, and I'm wondering if it measured just using horizontals thereby giving a shorter distance... If I run/walk from A to C, does GPS measure AC or AB ?

2 years ago in the same day, I played a 5 minutes game with Hikaru Nakamura and I was able to checkmate him. Let me review the game. I played my usual queen's pawn opening, the Torre attack to build up a nice advantage in the center and later I played a4 to challenge his b5 pawn. He captured the a4 pawn and then his a-pawn became isolated which I won soon. I got a winning endgame, but my time was low, He played very quickly and generated counterplay. He could win back the pawn and equalize, but missed his chances. I won a knight fir my extra pawn, but my clock went down to 20 seconds. My position was winning, but time-wise I was losing. When I had only 3 seconds on my clock he made a bad move, he attacked my rook, but then I gave him a checkmate in 2 moves. The best victory of my life. It help me to believe, I can get the Grandmaster title. The best thing happened in the best time. A good sign! You can watch the final minute from Hikaru's stream at https://clips.twitch.tv/AnimatedLaconicReindeerUWot and from my stream at https://clips.twitch.tv/OptimisticSpineyRabbitStoneLightning Would you like to improve your chess? Hi all! Just signed up for my first ever running event, which for now is online unfortunately. How the heck do you have an online marathon?! Well apparently people use a tracking/running app and send in GPS proof of their run times. The race I signed up for is 10k, and will be run March 21. My only goal is to finish, and run the entire time. It's called the Chilly Half Marathon and is normally held in Burlington, ON. With the help of a book I have a 12 week plan that will end on March 21 with a 10k run. Take care!
To create some conversation in the club I thought it'd be a good idea to have members share some of their best (or worst!?) games here. Don't forget to annotate so we know what you were thinking.
