Even when you are losing, if you can identify you opponent weaknesses and make use of it, you can win, losing posiions
This was in a club tournament which is why I didn't resign, and I felt the position was still winnable if my opponent blunders a bishop or maybe 2 pawns.
That is a example of a perfect greek gift now let me show you how to win material with this tactic
This is a way to gain slight amounts of material with the greek gift tactic. And finally let me show you a fake greek gift.
And finally here is a game that I played a while back with the greek gift:
Thanks for reading by the way I played the game with 99 CAPS
Yes, I'm a dozen points below 1400, but I lost 6 of 9 games yesterday, and I was 1407, so I count myself still as a 1400.
So people who see 1400s as gods, we are definitely not.
Those who see us as pedestrians, we are, I assure you.
My opponent didn't resign instantly for some reason, and at that moment my dad needed my help finding his passport so I offered a draw instead of resigning and it was the end
1. Stop losing
2. Play better
3. Never give up, especially when they checkmate you, just rearrange the position and call the TD saying you won
4. Use l*chess
it's more difficult than it seems to use a space advantage! Many opponents of mine can testify. This was played in a 10min rapid game where my brain was going ballistic, and I felt like I couldn't lose!
I try for a sharp gambit, but my opponent doesn't want to try his hand at tactics - but he gets a nice present in return... an equals over plus endgame that he has to defend for many, many moves...
