I came across this game the other day in my local Barnes & Noble. It appears to be something of a cross between Yahtzee and Catan. Anyway, here's a link to a YouTube review of the game.
The Catan franchise has grown so much I don't even try to keep up with it anymore let alone buy all the available products. Most of my gaming energy goes straight into chess nowadays. But here is the latest offering that I'm aware of: The Settlers of America: Trails to Rails. This incarnation focuses on the expansion of the United States across the North American continent. It seems to have received good reviews. For more information over at the Boardgamegeek, click here.
Apparently WFM Elizabeth Vicary plays Settlers of Catan. Check out this link to her blog (and scroll down to the second photo): http://lizzyknowsall.blogspot.com/2010/05/justus-williams-expresses-his-views-on.html
I'm partial to Cities & Knights and, in fact, find it difficult to get back into regular settlers now. It's a great game, especially when combined with Seafarers. I've also played the Settlers of the Stone Age game which I enjoyed quite a bit (I ended up giving it away though when I moved from California to minimize car space).
http://atkmchesssets.com/catan.html Win the whole thing & you'll win a trip to Ohio & potentially Germany. Location is All the Kings Men in Pitman, NJ. See above link for details. First pre-qualifier is in March, 2010.
This one's a bit cheezy but well made. Overview of the game Overview of Cities & Knights of Catan (I don't agree with the negatives of his review though, C&K is the best) Guide to Xplorers (could only find one in Portugese )
