Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed a recurring problem in my games. Many times, I actually reach a winning position — sometimes even completely winning — but I still end up losing.
Here’s what usually happens:
I sacrifice pieces with the idea that there must be a winning line. The position truly is winning for me.But I fail to spot the mate in 3 or mate in 4.Instead of finishing the game, I either miss the sequence or make a mistake, and then I lose.
It’s really frustrating because I know the win is there, but I just don’t see it in the moment.
👉 My question: How can I train myself to spot these short forced mates more consistently? Are there specific exercises or habits that helped you?
