Hi is anybody here familiar with the opera Don Giovanni. If so then this is so that we can discuss our favourite singers and scenes of the opera. Personally I like S. Ramey and K. Moll in the Commendatore scene.

Hello. I think I am the newest member of this group and I would like to introduce myself. I am an amateur composer and a musician and I like playing chess. It is lovely to find a group of classical music lovers! I am currently not playing very much, but want to. Anyone fancy a game? Thank you, Patrik.
Hi to all, I am From argentina, and i am new in this group. My english is not the best. Also I am new in the world of classical music, and i think this kind of music elevates the human soul. I have started a new Topic in the forum because there was nothing abot "Luthiers", i am one of those. If you chek my profile you can se my blog with my classical instrumets, and proyects. These days i like the compositions of Wiess Leopold, he is great. I will do the best for this team.

Just how much do you know about Russian music? It will really go deep in the soul, for me at least: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qstbmA10w-A&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYasxcHS8CU Please comment on my composition, I am going to enter it into a competition and I want to get lots of opinions so I know what to fix and what needs to improve. It is in the style of Bach and I used the picture from this group's dp
Let me share this musical Christmas advice I also posted in NONESUCH: Make out your Chopin Liszt early before Debussy season, when you have time to check out Verdi good bargains are, can still get gifts Faure good price, not have to Handel large crowds and have time to give Bach things you decide you don't want. Then someone added: Will you be getting a lawn Mahler for the holidays? Okay, that's stretching it. Please share what Christmas music you like or hate. My favorite is still that one by Mel Torme that goes "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."

Which fugue is the greatest of them all? My vote goes to the fugue from Bach's Toccata in C minor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qory4Jp2y7Y

Please help if you can :) The only thing I know is that Handel moved to London in 1710 before writing this opera in 1724 so that may have affected him somehow...

It seems that music seems to be getting worse over time since the creation of pop music. I am having a big debate with my friends as to why classical music is better than pop, can you help me think of some points to shut them down? Thanks!
Since we are such a new group with relatively few members I thought we might introduce ourselves here. What's your connection to classical music? What role does chess play in your life? Anything else we should know about you?

The realm of musical harmony is riddled with mysterious wonders and although God may have made 24 different keys, I can't help but think that D flat major is the best, or at least the warmest. What do you guys think?

Hi everyone, its good to know there's a classical music group on chess.com, which is really cool! I have to do a music project on 20th century Russian Opera on the composers Prokofiev and Shostakovich, which operas are best to write about that represent their style and compositional characteristics? Thanks

We've just received a challenge for a Team Match. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on whether we should play team matches or not...

I see we're up to a whopping 13 members now. I think a good way to get to know each other would be to have a tournament just amongst ourselves. What do you think? Round Robin? Swiss? Should we wait for a bit?
