Hello Team 54: I have put together some puzzles on opening lines and hope they will be helpful. Just for fun I also included a very nasty puzzle where 99.5% of the people who try will not be able to figure it out. You may have seen it before, but I am sure there are some people who haven't. So enjoy this weeks lesson and good luck on the last one. Remember if a puzzle seems complicated or you cant see why certain moves are made. Hello Team 54, Sorry it took so long to put these puzzles up but again after a hour of work putting them together last week they didnt post. It is truly frustrating having to put them all up again after I did it the first time. Anyway, this is the last set of puzzles dealing with diagonals and bishops. I hope you and enjoy and develop more of an appreciation for your bishops after completing all of these exercises. Again if they seem to hard then open up the move list and hopefully I would have answered all of your questions. Thanks and Good Luck!

Hello Team 54: I hope you really appreciate these puzzles because I put twelve together and when I went to post them I hit the wrong button and all of them had gotten erased... AARRGGHHHHH!!! But because I have a passion for the game I decided to go ahead and put them together all over again. I decided to go with discovered attacks because I thought it would be a nice follow up to last weeks puzzles on double checks. Anyway, I hope you enjoy them and remember if a line looks complicated look in the move list box so it can help you further understand why certain moves were made. The last puzzle is by far my favorite because although black has many options as how to defend none of them work. Again you can see the move list after you try to figure it out. Good Luck...

Hello Team 54: We are now moving onto decoying. This is some what similar to deflection, but it differs in the sense that deflection somewhat forces a piece to move while decoying is just that. It forces the opponent to deal with one threat while there is another one taking place. Good Luck. Have fun and let me know what you think. P.S. First we play 8.Bd3. Then we look to develop our King's Knight but we may have to wait. Hello Team 54 members, I was playing a mid 1700 player and I was a mid 1400 player. I think I was playing well and came close to a checkmate at one part of this game. In the end I made a draw by repetition. Was this correct to do with the mating chance? Was there a point where I could have improved my position? thanks, hope you liked the wild middle game!

Chess960 (also called FischerRandom) is just like regular chess... except that the starting position is shuffled to include 960 different possible positions! So you can throw out your opening book - but keep your opening principles!You play the same, but you just have different placement of pieces on the back rank.At first, the act of castling might seem strange, but really the result is the same as ever: the king/rook end up in the same position as when they castle in regular chess: king on g-file and rook on f-file for kingside; king on c-file and rook on d-file for queenside. Team 54 has not yet officially recognized its Vote Chess Team for their efforts; however, this will be done but I'm not sure when and how.
