How did you get into Kpop and what was the first KPOP song you ever heard? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wvCVKxB4j-o 1st song: Innocent Love/First Love by ASTRO Story: I had heard PSY's Gangnam Style but never really gotten into KPOP. I had some friends and upperclassmen that listened to KPOP, but my interest KPOP began when I saw a few episodes of "To Be Continued," a Kdrama that featured the KPOP boy group ASTRO. Then on a community service trip for school, the driver was listening the ATEEZ's Pirate King, Treasure, and some other ATEEZ songs. I also then heard TxT's Crown and BTS's Boy With Luv. These where the only songs I really listened to. Then I got Spotify and discovered a bunch of other groups/bands like The Rose, Taeyeon, TWICE, Everglow, Akmu, and Day6!!!

Gonna use this thread to keep track of the more significant kpop singles throughout the year, plus any others we feel deserve a listen! Please update this w/ any of your fav songs from 2022 as and when they are released, and feel free to call SOTY way too early like I did w/ Love So Sweet last year lol My 2021 top 5 went something like: Weeekly - After School StayC - ASAP aespa - Savage WayV - Kick Back NCT 127 - gimme gimme ...so let's see if 2022 can top those!

We need to talk about the absolute brain rot happening with the Katseye vs. Blackpink comparisons.If I see one more person claim that the end of "Pinky Up" is a copy of "Jump," I might actually lose my mind. It is perfectly okay to stick to your specific niche; if K-pop is the only thing you listen to, that's fine. But it is legitimately pathetic to act like an expert on a genre you’ve never even heard of. Did you extract that confidence from a rejected script? Because you’re out here acting like a copyright lawyer for a beat that has existed since before half of you were born.That "jump" beat and the rhythm at the end of Pinky Up aren't Blackpink’s signature—it’s a common foundation in techno, rave, and hardstyle. They both sampled the same sound. It makes me want to slap my forehead when a Blink or an Eyekon sees a similar beat and immediately screams PLAGIARISM! No, honey, you’re just uneducated in music history. You're so stuck in your little bubble that you think every rhythm was born in a corporate basement.What’s even crazier is that I’m young, yet I actually know what hardstyle is. Meanwhile, we have these 20-something-year-old fans acting like actual babies because they don't know a certain music genre and they get mad when people call them out. IS YOUR BRAIN PERMANENTLY ON AIRPLANE MODE? If you want to act like an expert, then actually go listen to the genre before you start a fanwar.It’s giving "I’ve never listened to a song that wasn't on a top 40 chart but I’m going to lecture you anyway." You aren't protecting your group; you’re just revealing that you have ZERO MUSICAL AWARENESS outside of your bias. Sampling is an art form, not a crime. Stop using your own ignorance as a weapon. I’d tell you to go listen to some actual techno to see where the sound came from, but you’d probably just find a way to claim the DJ is copying your favorite idol.
