The last SCC Chess Club rapid tournament of 2024 will take place Wednesday, December 4th!

Join the SCC Chess Club for our last meeting of the year! We will meet Wednesday, December 11th from 6-8 p.m. in room T106 in the main (LNK) building of SCC's 8800 O Street Lincoln campus. We will then be off for winter break, and will resume meetings in the spring semester. Location and meeting day/time are still TBD. I hope to see you at the club on Wednesday!

The SCC Chess Club will meet tomorrow, Wednesday November 20th from 6-8 p.m. in room T106 in the main (LNK) building of SCC's 8800 O Street Lincoln campus. All players are welcome, regardless of playing level or SCC affiliation.  We will not be meeting the following week, Wednesday November 27th, because SCC is not in session for the Thanksgiving break. The week after that, Wednesday December 4, we will be hosting our last USCF rated rapid tournament of the year, so put that in your calendar! I hope to see you at the club tomorrow!

The SCC Chess Club will again be hosting a USCF rapid tournament this Wednesday, November 6th. The tournament is in room T106, in the main building (LNK) of SCC's 8800 O Street Lincoln campus. Current USCF membership required. Registration is from 6-6:30. $5 entry fee, cash only, waived for SCC students. See attached for more information. I hope to see you at the tournament!

The SCC Chess Club will once again host a USCF rated rapid tournament on Wednesday October 2nd from 6-9 p.m. in room T106 of the main building on SCC's 8800 O Street Lincoln campus. We are changing the prize structure somewhat: we will now be awarding 3 prizes: first overall, best under 1600, and best under 1200/unrated. Directions to T106: If you enter through the main, south, doors (culinary academy to your left and health building to your right), proceed down the hall past Course Ground Coffee and the information kiosk until you reach a perpendicular hallway. At that point turn right, and not long thereafter turn left down the corridor before the sign welcoming you into the U section. T106 is at the end of this corridor. Registration is from 6-6:30. There is a $5 entry fee, waived for SCC students. You must be a member of the USCF in order to play in the tournament. Bring a clock if you have one. I hope you can join us for the tournament!

Notice that this is a new room. If you enter through the main, south, doors (culinary academy to your left and health building to your right), proceed down the hall past Course Ground Coffee and the information kiosk until you reach a perpendicular hallway. At that point turn right, and not long thereafter turn left down the corridor before the sign welcoming you into the U section (a sign will guide you down this corridor). T106 is at the end of this corridor. If you want to play chess at the club but don't want to participate in the rated event, join us the following week, Wednesday September 11th. Registration is from 6-6:30. There is a $5 entry fee, waived for SCC students. You must be a member of the USCF in order to play in the tournament. Bring a clock if you have one.
