Do rests matter? Should you follow them to a t?Do dynamics matter? Does tempo matter? Do phrase marks matter? Does no pedal marks mean no pedal? I think these things matter sometimes maybe. I’m not sure.Bach never put a tempo. Pianos used to be different were playing a different instrument. Glenn Gould basically rewrote some repertoire. Editions of pieces are usually all different. Chopin was known to play his etudes differently on different occasions. I usually don’t really care about dynamics but noticed Beethoven uses them for a deliberate effect. So I mean it matters for that obviously ha. I think articulation and finger pedaling and how u use pedal always matter. I could be totally wrong what do u guys think? Is everything up to interpretation? Where does the interpretation come in?

If you’re interested-Every key has over 100 parts I think all the parts have a name. Even the screws have a name ones called the drop screw. I forget all the exact measurements but the hammer only flies about a sixteenth of an inch you’re in control until then. The only thing you can control is the speed of the hammer none of the force or touch matters for tone only the speed of the hammer. The middle part is the double escapement mechanism found in grands but not uprights. It allows for rapid playing without having to let the key raise fully. The hammer bounces off the string and gets caught by the “backstop” and doesn’t drop all the way down. That’s the little brown felt thing. I’m sure you all know about the damper. This is a working model all the part move when you press the key. I freaking love this this that’s how I know I’m a true nerd. 🤓 lol

Pretty self explanatory, just wanted to see the opinions of people here. For me, I have to pick Beethoven because he was the first truly Romantic composer, and the Romantic era was the peak of classical music for me.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this club and I would like to know the favorite pieces of people here so I could listen to them. Mine is Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. It's by far my favorite, and it has a truly supernatural feeling to it. Thanks for @PICKERELRIVER for pointing me here to the forum.
